Yeah, I know what you are thinking. First, that this sounds really girlie or shallow. Secondly, that it sounds like an overdone romance. While this is partially true on both accounts, it definitely succeeds at being at least somewhat unique in its premise. As far as the girlieness, well yes, it's a romance OVA, so it has an aspect of that. But in general, it isn't SUPER girlie shoujo in most ways (the animation, the story, etc). As far as the story, it as least manages to tell the same old "girl goes for unattainable guy" idea in a new setting... in this case, a boutique with a french name and non-high school students for the other main characters. Fashion, glamour, and elegance are what make fourteen year old Fujiya Kotobuki's world go round. At the moment, she has her eye set on an older, fashionable man named Hodoka who works at the trendy Galopine et Galdpin boutique in Harajuku. Chance smiles upon Kotobuki's life when she has the opportunity to not only meet Hodoka, but date him as well! Can their relationship thrive under false pretenses and personality conflicts, or will Kotobuki be doomed to a life of loneliness?
Think you have what it takes to be one of Anime-Planet's site reviewers? Find out more!
My fav genres include sci fi and horror, but you'll find a lot of obscure reviews from me too, given I watch a ton to add to the database. My new reviews are written a lot better than my old ones, so when in doubt, sort by date! ^_^ Enjoy, and I welcome any and all feedback.
