This manga is severely fucked-up in multiple ways, and I'm not going to dismiss that as I write this review. I had read this manga about a year ago and had avoided it since I had read it originally and had been thrown off due to the multiple instances of rape and honestly horrible treatment. But about a week ago, I found out that there was a second part to this titled "The Song Of Yoru And Asa Encore". The follow-up to this story redeemed these characters for me, as it followed their redemption and their growing relationship, which I could hardly believe could end up turning out as healthy as it did. Overall, I would recommend this manga to others as long as they can stand the rape and trauma that the first volume of the series shows, as the characters get MUCH better and I do not regret reading this at all. <h1> </h1>

Great storyline and I would love it to pieces but instead I hate it. it's full of crazy violent rape and severe severe abuse. It's fucked up. Should be burned. I can't believe people write stuff like this, either they are bad people or trying to cope with their own trauma. Manga like this normalizes rape and abuse. It's atrocious, don't read it.

As a heads up, this review is kind of full of kind-of spoilers, which are mostly just warnings. But listen, I'm gonna say right off the bat that this story is dark as hell and absolutely not a fluffy, happy romance. As a warning, the main sources of conflict are: 1) Asaichi (seme) is homophobic, so he mistreats Yoru (uke) for a long time (calls him disgusting, uses him for sex, etc), and 2) there’s a pretty brutal rape scene which might be really rough to get through if you’re sensitive about that kind of thing. Though, it’s not between the main couple, which always bothers me - their sex is solely consensual, since Yoru is so into Asaichi that he doesn’t mind being mistreated. Anyway, I don’t think the rating of the manga should be dependent on how the characters act, because it is good writing with interesting, flawed characters. Asaichi starts as an awful piece of shit, but that’s not a reason to hate the story itself. He’s not presented as being a nice, likable guy from the beginning, and the relationship isn’t presented as being healthy. He does go through a lot of character development, and it becomes very clear that he cares deeply about Yoru and regrets how he's acted in the past, but it’s up to the reader to decide if his previous behavior is forgivable or not.  Also, a couple of side notes: the official translation is way better, I think, it gets Asaichi's feelings across much better and is more heartbreaking the sequel seems to be pretty fluffy, and there’s a LOT of sex. They’re seriously both kind of horny freaks.
