Ultimate Venus and Captive Hearts are mirror images of each other in a few ways: a rich young woman falls in love with one of her servants, and in both cases, she is fairly new to this lifestyle. The highstrung character and the calm character are flipped, but the dynamic between the couples feels similar to me. :)
Haine Otomiya is a student at the elite Imperial Academy. A one-time gang member who was put up for adoption by her father, her life changed when she met Shizumasa Togu, president of the student council and ‘emperor' of Imperial Academy. Haine quits her gang and enrolls at the prestigious private school in the hope of winning Shizumasa's love. When she is hired as his school bodyguard, she's thrilled; but can she survive the drama of the student council? As secrets spill and relationships form, Haine is pulled further into the world of the elite and powerful, where wealth is everything and social status is the basis of all relationships. What's a girl to do?
The heroines in these manga both enter prestigious schools and become the center of attention without being ready for it. There are struggles that come with fame, and it's hard to tell who really is your friend. In addition, there's a character in each story who has a stand-in at school, so Yuzu and Haine have some complicated emotions to sort out.
Both of these series follow the development of a common girl who is suddenly lifted to the lap of luxury. The transformation is difficult for both of the heroines, and enemies are often disguised as friends, but neither one is easily broken. If you like rags to riches stories, either of these is a good choice.
Sachie Wakamura's mother has just passed away, making her an orphan. Suddenly, a man claiming to be her grandfather appears asking Sachie to live with him. Things aren't as simple as they seem to be when she realizes her grandfather is the boss of a yakuza gang and she is to live with him and the rest of his men. To make matters worse she is assigned a bodyguard named Rakuto, who is the handsome, popular student council president at her new school. Sachie must now try to fit in with her new family and deal with her developing feelings for Rakuto, who appears to only see her as the granddaughter of his boss. Are Sachie and Rakuto destined to continue in this master-servant relationship forever or will her feelings finally be reciprocated?
In Wild Ones and Ultimate Venus, the heroine discovers that she is actually the heiress of a wealthy family, which changes her whole world. Granted, the former features a yakuza family and the latter a wealthy businesswoman, but both worlds are quite cutthroat. In addition, the girls fall for their bodyguards, have loud or violent outbursts, and want to have normal school lives. It's a great match!
