The similarities between Skip Beat! and King's Pawnshop seem small - but both focus on female "leads" who are gullable, talented and charming young ladies and their rather "tsundere" male counterparts.

The female characters in Skip Beat! and Maid-sama! are hard working girls that are a little down on their luck.  They are extremely determined and will do whatever they have to do to succeed and obtain their goal.  Each involves a little bit of romance and some comedy thrown in.

The boys' dream of rent-free living comes crashing down when they meet Sunako Nakahara, the girl they must transform. Both mangas center around a girl who completely changes due to one guy. In Skip Beat, it is a guy who has used and led Kyoko on since they were kids. In Wallflower, it is a guy that Sunako likes who tells her she's ugly. Both mangas are VERY FUNNY, relying on the main characters' somewhat dark sides to be a driving force. In both mangas, the main characters are afraid to fall in love/ avoid love at all costs because of what they have experienced. Truly, both mangas are about one girl's trials and tribulations on her journey to rediscover what love and life is. Oh and both feature really attractive guys, as an added bonus.

I can't say that these stories really have much in common, beyond both having really interesting characters and stories. If you're reading one and want something equally fun to read, I'd recommend checking the other out. Uru and Kyoko are both really fun, quirky main characters, and Shindou, Ichirou, Ren and Shou are all attractive male leads as well. Neither of these mangas ever get overly sappy or trite either, which is something that not many shoujo mangas can claim.

Skip Beat! and B.B. Explosion both follow the lives of regular girls who have crushes on idols and decide to enter show business themselves. In both series, the heroine is unaware of her innate talent, but begins to shine in her own right after a bit of practice.

Again, these two manga share an author giving them a very similar 'feel'. If you enjoyed one, you will definately enjoy the other. Between the characters, the story and the art, liking one and not the other seems impossible to me.

I find these to be similar in strange ways.

See, we have strong (like, literally strong) female leads with dashing and chivalrous men around her, and yet, instead of falling all over them and becoming wrapped up in her own beating heart, she stays strong (sometimes to the point idiotic stubborness) and independent.

If you liked one you'll definitely like the other.

Both main characters are looked down by the people they try to integrate themselves into. However, as time passes, they gain their place.

Both main chracters are girls with surprising personalities, who reach out to others and create a unique group of friends.

(Skip Beat gets more romance-focused later on, though)
