Kagome was just a normal girl, until one day she fell into a well that brought her to feudal-era Japan. After encountering hordes of demons and discovering that she's the reincarnation of a priestess, Kagome must now journey to protect a sacred jewel from evil with the help of a half-demon named Inuyasha. Along the way they make many enemies and friends, and travel between the modern and feudal eras.
Rin-ne and Inuyahsa are so similar that they could be sequels, the only significant difference is that Rin-ne takes place in modern times while Inuyasha takes place in ancient times. Both stories involve a self-centered, demonlike boy with special powers, who (rather reluctantly) fights against supernatural beings who disturb the piece of the mortal world. Each is accompanied by a level-headed human girl & a somehwat annoying little boy-demon.
In both manga the story and characters are very similar, which is only natural, since they're from the same mangaka. While Inuyasha takes place mostly in the feudal era with the characters exterminating evil youkai and hunting down the main villain, Rinne takes place in the present with the main characters dealing with cases that have to do with the supernatural.
