Based on 1 of 7. I got the first volmue of this seires through a mystery box from rightstuf.  And every book is a mixed bag so far.  Still, this as much of a dud as some of the others. Story: The story pulls something I do like.  Making it seem like the girl is the main character when it isn't.  It's the sort of typical sort of boy meets girl in the beginning.  Well, and then the girl ends up not being as much the main character as she simply exists to introduce us to the main character.  However, the main character needs a lot of work.  I don't really understand his motivation and how the story works as well as it should.  I just coudln't find the motivationt to go through another volume. Art: I understand that the person who did this once did Kamichama Karin.  However, the mix of realistic and sort of "moe" chibi confused me a lot.  Characters: The characters I can really speak about are three.  We first have the "main" girl character who is mostly the typical girl with a love for a man who has some other motives she isn't aware of.  I like her arc, but I can't understand how the guy is suppoed to get more than one girl to like him enough like that. The main male characters are probably the most prominent.  The male's motivation still confuses me, since I have no idea why he gets help from a mysterious force.  I also don't get why his guardian gets very little representation. Overall: The story and characters of Pavane for a Dead Girl are not as strong as I'd like.  It couldn't draw me to want to know more about these "tears of Maria."  However, it has potential.
