I know y'all have been waiting with bated breath for me to review Monster Men Bureiko Lullaby. Well, wait no longer for I have answered your clarion call and my review is here! And what can I say, the line "It's not a leotard! It's my ball sack!" is probably one of the greatest lines in manga history. It's absurdist and crass and demented, but also just straight-up funny. And this manga definitely keeps the humor element pretty intact throughout. The concepts can be so over-the-top that they transcend the vileness of the actions being portrayed and achieve the state of being amusing. Fucking and impregnating a fetus. Having a rapist get jacked off by a cop, so the cop could get evidence of the rapes. Most of the humor is based around sexuality and I noticed that a decent amount of it stems from the irony of seeing characters so ridiculously obsessed with getting off that they neglect any other concerns. The pages are stuffed with panels. There is simplistic and distorted artwork. Inconsistent proportions. Random gags and mini-plots in the backgrounds. There are four stories. The first story consists of six three-page installments, but the installments don't flow together all that well and, at times, seem to veer off into tangents and shit. This first story deals with evil old men and a penis taking control of a body and becoming the new head. The second story is about a simpleton artist who's obsessed with feir own penis. This story is my least favorite of the bunch. The third story is the most unapologetically demented in its sexual perversions and immoral behavior and can be genuinely disturbing at times (but also morbidly entrancing). The final story is the longest one and it creates a whole biography of a radiated sperm and the sex-crazed, rapist father who jizzed it out. We see the sperm go to elementary school, come to terms with feir father raping feir childhood crush (and others), have several jobs, and end up working in a gay bar.
