If you liked L-DK or Mars, you may also like the other one. Both series evolve around an attractive high school boy and his intimate relationship with the girl they love. L-DK has more comedy in it while Mars has more drama. But you will get similar taste from both series.

Beast Master

Beast Master

Yuiko loves animals, but given the overly-aggressive way she tries to show her love for them, they always run away. One day Yuiko meets a strange boy named Leo who seems to be more beast than human; his fierce eyes frighten everyone away, and he harbors a dark secret: when he's threatened or sees blood, Leo loses control and behaves like a wild animal. Can Yuiko tame this wild beast, or will he run just like all the other animals she loves?

Both "Beast Master" and "Mars" contain a girl who is suddenly loved by a boy completely unlike her. The boy has a beastly nature; he beats people up and the like. In both manga, the heroine is often in a situation where she needs to be rescued by the boy, and occasionally the boy needs to be rescued by the girl. The boys are bad boys, while the girls are innocent.

Shoujo Nemu

Shoujo Nemu

Nemu is an extremely timid girl whose habit of zoning out when people are talking to her leads others to believe she's a bit dim. But the girl has an extraordinary gift for drawing and an intense drive to become a mangaka - if only she could find the courage to show professionals her work. In her quest to become a shoujo mangaka, Nemu befriends Goro Kimura - an obscure and jaded manga artist who recently returned from Tokyo, bored of his old life of booze and babes. Despite their disparate personalities, the two bond over their shared passion for stories.

Shoujo Nemu isn't a romance, and is far more understated than Mars, but the pair of main characters from each is extremely alike. The female lead is shy and withdrawn, but is a talented artist. The male lead is really rough around the edges, and has a speckled past. However, despite their opposite personalities, they get along swimmingly. If you liked this character dynamic in one, you may enjoy it in the other.

Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket

Tohru Honda might just be the unluckiest girl around. After a series of unfortunate events Tohru has no place to call home - that is, until the wealthy yet cursed Sohma family offer to take her in, in exchange for performing the household chores. However, soon Tohru discovers that there's much more to the Sohma family than meets the eye. Though shocked and surprised, Tohru promises to keep their secrets; but will the Sohma family approve of an outsider knowing who they really are?

AirCommodore AirCommodore says...

Mars and Fruits Basket are two of the most quintessential shoujo manga around, and should be checked out by both passionate shoujo fans, and anyone curious about what the demographic is all about.

Furthermore, the dynamic between the main couples in each (I'm using Kyo-Tohru as the main couple in Fruits Basket) is similar. The girl is innocent and well-behaved, while the guy is prone to outbursts of rage, and is haunted by a dark, mysterious past.
