If you liked the Kuroko no Basket manga, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
Sakuragi Hanamichi is a delinquent who's so unpopular with girls that he's been rejected fifty times. Haruko Akagi is the only girl who isn't scared of him; instead she's impressed with Sakuragi's athleticism and, convinced that he would do well, introduces him to the Shohoko basketball team. Desperate to impress Haruko and believing that she is the girl of his dreams, Sakuragi joins the team in spite of his initial reluctance. Surprisingly, Sakuragi is a natural at the sport regardless of his reputation for being hot-tempered and immature. From now on Sakuragi must work together with his teammates, including his rival Rukawa, to fulfill their captain's dream of winning the national championship. That is, if they have what it takes!
Both mangas are based on the story of senior highschool basketball teams, and their way to the top of Japan.
Kuroko no Basket (KnB) and Slam Dunk (SD) are similar in several aspects, such as main characters. Sakuragi is playing same position, as Kagami. Both of them are similarly looking, their main power is their jumping, both are quite stupid, thus making funny scenes throughtout the series.
Many KnB's characters have some "unique" powers, which are brilliantly handed, since they are all based on reality (even thought exaggerated little bit). SD lacks something like this.
Since KnB is much newer than SD, I would say that its better in many things than SD, KnB's story isnt as slow-paced as SD's, which makes it more interesting.
Overall, both series are excellent. If you liked one, you will liked the other one as well.
Yeah I totally agree with this recommendation. Both series are quite similar in many different ways.
Both Mangas Deal with High School Basketball. Both focuses on a School who aims to be at top of Nations High School Basketball and Develop their Team with help of New Super Rookies. Sakuragi and Rukawa in SD and Kuroko-Kagami in KnB.
Both deliver high quality of sports satisfaction, SLam Dunk with Old Shcool Basketball and KnB in In New style basketball.
If u like one, u will love other one.
Ever since Sena was little, everyone has treated him as an errand boy. His childhood friend, Mamori, even has to protect him from bullies all the time, although she's a girl. Fortunately, in order to evade his tormentors, Sena has developed incredibly fast legs; in fact, Sena is so fast that he is noticed by Himura, the quarterback of a failing football team, who promptly tricks him into joining. However, in order to keep other teams from scouting him, and to keep Mamori from finding out that he's in such a dangerous sport, Sena wears an eyeshield and goes by the name of "Eyeshield 21". For someone like Sena, making it in the tough world of football is a challenge like no other, but also the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become someone others respect!
Both are sports mangas with totally over the top actions. In both cases characters specialise in one type of play, and pull some humanly impossible moves.Good examples are light-speed running in Eyeshield 21 and shooting across the court with perfect accuracy in Kuroku no Basuke.
Basicly if you like sports mangas, where absurdly impossible things happen on a daily basis, those titles are for you.
Kuroko no Basket(basketball) and Eyshield21(American Football),are similar in various aspects.
Both Main characters have no clue of their skills and Hidden talent but a senior spots the sleeping talent in the player and awaken it, to make them a Big power in team and sport.
Both series have Senpai's with their last chance to win at their Dream Tournament, but Introduction of some super rookies and hardworkers change their team power and fate completely. Have they got what it takes to be the best? Read and find out!
Area no Kishi and Kuroko no Basket are similar in some aspects of story. Area no kishi follows the highschool Football whereas Kuroko no Basket focuses on Highschool basketball. Both series main character have a major talent sealed/hidden in them. With certain events and people helping them to show their true power. A tragedy in area no kishi and a senior's help in Kuroko.
Both manga's main character are quite simple with Kuroko no Basket main char supposedly invisible.Nonetheless both have massive talent in them, also both have a childhood girl who they like , or who likes them.
an enjoyable read for any sports lover
Both involve basketball and a main character who is constantly being underestimated. While Akatsuki goes through the trials of acceptance, Kuroko must face his friends-turned-opponents from the past. Both are a fantastic read. Akatsuki is more 'cute' while Kuroko is more 'cool'.
Years ago, the East Tokyo United soccer team was a force to be reckoned with, captained by the talented and charismatic Takeshi Tatsumi. But after leaving suddenly to join an amateur team in England, ETU's record and morale quickly plummeted, their meager status kept afloat only by the efforts of new captain Murakoshi. Now, several years have passed and Takeshi is in town once more, this time to bring the team back to victory. But with fans resentful of the man's former departure, clashing personalities on the team and Takeshi's unorthodox and lackadaisical coaching style, ETU's rise to fame won't be easy...
While not about the same sport and taking place in a different setting, both Kuroko no Basket and Giant Killing star a very unorthodox character who is underestimated by the sports team. beyond that, they're fairly typical sports titles, with arcs pertaining to battling a specific team-of-the-week and a a general desire to make it to a championship.
