Kaori Yuki is pretty well-known for her dark and gothic drawing style, her androgynous characters, and her bloody and gruesome story-telling. Grand Guignol Orchestra is about a troupe of musicians travelling in a carriage performing for money. The world is inhabited by zombie-like corpses called "guignols", and only their music can tame the ravenous beasts.  Godchild, on the other hand, is a sequel of the Cain Saga. It tells of a young aristocrat named Cain Hargreaves, a collector of poisons who happens to solve the mysteries that seem to turn up everytime he turns a corner. Godchild features Grimms' Fairy Tales that are twisted and turned into something more gruesome than the originals. If you like something seductively dark with the air of dark elegance and Kaori Yuki's style, Godchild is a must-read.

Ludwig Kakumei

Ludwig Kakumei

The beautiful and egotistical Prince Ludwig is a shameless player who will pursue any woman with a hot body, a cute face, and enormous breasts. But what he really loves is the pale serenity of a beautiful corpse, a preference reflected by the countless dead babes that decorate his bedroom. This hobby repulses the king, who exiles his son until he can find a bride who's actually alive. In his quest to woo a suitable princess, the haughty youth will face many obstacles, including a cursed hand puppet that turns its wearer into a frog, an assassin with a hood stained red with blood, and worst of all: fake breasts.

Grand Guignol Orchestra is about a troupe of musicians travelling in a carriage performing for money. The world is inhabited by zombie-like corpses called "guignols", and only their music can tame the ravenous beasts.  Ludwig Kakumei is about a selfish prince named Ludwig who is sent off by his kingly father to find a suitable bride for him to marry. He encounters many princesses and Grimms Fairy Tales are once again a main staple in the story-telling, but twisted in Kaori Yuki's own dark fashion. It's a must-read for those wanting to taste her earlier work.
