Sket Dance

Sket Dance

Life can be difficult in high school. Luckily for Kaimei Gakuen High there is a club called the Sket Dance. Defined as the "Campus Support Group," this club is dedicated to solving the problems of their school. However, due to the lack of important jobs, the Sket Dance is often overlooked and mostly used to do boring handiwork tasks rather than solving actual problems. But when they do get a job, like finding the culprit of bullying or taking care of a classmate's pet monkey, they are able to show their true skills. The Sket Dance has three members: former delinquent and violent Himeko, information and technology-loving otaku Switch, and atypical leader Bossun. Whether it's solving problems or just fixing up the storage shed, the Sket Dance will always try their best and give each job their all!

Both Gintama and Sket Dance are centered around the same idea.  A group of three people, which include a violent girl, a nerdy boy, and an atypical useless leader, take on odd jobs and services for the help of other people.  You can't get more similar than the same plot structure.  If you like one you will like the other.

Apart from the surprisingly similar characters from both series, Sket Dance and Gintama are very similar to each other; although Sket Dance has a possibly more mistery than the more light-hearted and absurd sci-fi setting of Gintama, both manga relate around a group of free-lancers with unique members, such as overtly violent girls, only apparently useless leaders that turn out to actually have quite amazing skills and so on, all with a heavy use of humor and a plot which remains hidden behind the various gags...

Both involve a group of three people trying to help out others. One is the boss who seems like a good-for-nothing but pulls through at the end. The other is an otaku and the last is a girl with fierce strength. Both are comedic and have parodies. They have similar feels.

They are both similar in terms of humour, which focuses mainly on randomness. Both series also have 3 main characters (2 males, 1 female). Both focus on helping others, sket dance as part of their club activities while gintama as part of their job. They have a lot of common, while being very different at the same time. If you like one of those series, go ahead and check the other one.

Both are gag manga with a similar style of comedy (though Gintama has a lot more sexual jokes than Sket Dance). The author of Sket Dance was previously an assistant of the author of Gintama, and it really shows when reading/watching both.

Sket Dance is essentially a milder version of Gintama.

Both make excellent use of toilet humour.

Both feature a trio that do odd jobs, and are largely episodic.

Both are very good at making you emotionally connect with characters very quickly, and then using that connection to emotionally punch you in the gut. Both shows can go almost instantly from hilarious to sad and back without it feeling jarring. Both are mostly hilarious though.

Both feature supernatural elements, Gintama to a much larger extent though.

author was an assistant on gintama and gintama characters appear in the manga, it also really emulates the style of gintama with whacky humor and some serious scenes when it needs to be

Both manga are balancing between meta, gag humor and serious, dramatic storytelling. Both have melancholic, easy-going main protagonists and a colorful supporting cast.

My Wife Is Wagatsuma-san and Gintama are both parodic gag manga with protagonists involved in crazy situations and characters out of the ordinary. Gintama creates an alternative universe with weird creatures, aliens and a good dose of action; My Wife Is Wagatsuma-san follows the ordinary romcom route, with a character capable of leaping through time with the only goal of marrying Wagatsuma-san.

Same type of humour in the sense that it revolves around the characters' unique personalities and relationships with each other. Each episode has its own story/arc, and it has a slight slice of life feeling to it.

They're both have gag manga elements, break the forth wall, and feature a strong main character who's a little bit of an idiot. Gintama has less of a full story arch but they're very similar in their humor, art, and mc type.

both have

- nonsensical humor

- crazy ass situations

- a quirky cast that play off one another

- stories are non linear

if you liked the lighthearted fun of Gintama then it's likely that you would also like Nan Hao... as its even less serious counterpart
