Gekkoh - Reviews

I had a blog post about it, but you don't really need to read the whole of it. Bascally this manga is porn with plot, where 50% is porn and the other 50% is plot. The blog post is below:

I found myself liking yakuza manga lately and I thought I might try to read a non sugar coated one. However, reading Gekkoh was a mistake. The story of revange and ummm... forbidden love got replaced with large quantities of borderline Hentai at the end of the first volume. It was bad, it really was. If someone were to cut out all the sex scenes the manga would have ended in 2 or 3 volumes (instead of 7). There are no likable characters here, in fact I found myself hating most of them (especially that old glasses wearing geezer and his grand(?)son).

Here is a heavily censored summary of the story (for those of you who read the first volume and don't want to read any further):

- Young hire of a yakuza clan meets a girl who claims to be his half-sister

- This girl is on a quest for revenge, she wants to kill a man (with a centipede tattooed on his back) who murdered her family

- The girl moves into her brother's house (actually a yakuza HQ) and they begin to start looking for clues, so they can find the murderer

- Somehow they fall in love with each other (replace the word love with lust...)

- Their investigation leads them nowhere for most of the series

.... lots of stuff skipped ....

- The old glasses wearing geezer gets killed (serves him right) by his grandson (both of those guys were total a******* and caused lots of trouble for the main duo)

- Protagonist (the yakuza hire I mentioned before) finds out that his sister isn't actually his sister

- A party involved in death of the girls family reveals itself

- From them them the girl learns that it was her own father (a person completely unrelated to the protagonist) who killed her family and then committed suicide (so the quest for revange was doomed from the very start)

- They all lived happily ever after...

- At this point, you realize you wasted lots of your precious time and brain cells reading this manga

I prefer sugar coated yakuza manga to this crap and I highly advise NOT to read it.

P.S. The art was rather poor and it had tendency to get much worse at times.
