Although Absolute Boyfriend is a bit more on the 'mature' side of things, it has a few similarities to Fruits Basket. For one thing, both are reverse harem and they each include a female lead sworn to secrecy while trying to pay off some debt or other. Though they don't have the same tone, mood, setting, or similar plots, there is a chance that if you liked one you'll like the other.

DuskFey DuskFey says...

In both Absolute Boyfriend and Fruits Basket, there are a few guys after one girl, and she likes them both! A relationship with any of the guys would be complicated, and there's someone who doesn't want it to happen. If you like romance with drama and guys who are definitely out of the ordinary, you'll probably enjoy these two. ;)

The female characters in Fruits Basket and Absolute boyfriend have the same type of personalities, and lucky them, they get to be surrounded by two hot guys vying for their attention.  Although Absolute Boyfriend does have a more mature aspect to it, Fruits Basket also has its own share of misfortune suffered by each character.  The plot lines are greatly developed in both series and make the reader want to learn more even after the stories conclude.

Both have the pretty average looking female lead, love triangles, a major secret, and good looking male characters. The only difference is that Absolute Boyfriend is somewhat tragic (not giving any spoliers, just want to prepare readers for a bit of heart ache).

Well I haven't read all of absolute boyfriend yet but both fruits basket and absolute boyfriend have those 2 guys. She has a choice and will either decide one or the other also AB is very funny.

Yeah I totally agree with this recommendation. Both series are quite similar in many different ways.

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School is a prestigious private academy where money and status count for everything. Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the elite school, and is appalled by the lazy attitude of the rich and powerful students towards their studies. The Host Club is a clear example of this: a group of six attractive and wealthy boys spend their time entertaining the female pupils for a profit. When Haruhi accidentally breaks a ¥8,000,000 vase belonging to the club, they force her to work off her debt as one of the club's members; and to do so, she must masquerade as a boy! Can Haruhi keep her gender a secret from the club's exclusive clients?

Both are about a kind girl hanging out with a harem of bishounen (pretty boys) and helping them fight their personal demons (psychological, not supernatural).  Ouran is the more comedic of the two, but both are quite funny at times, while touching and even sad at others.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Both Fruits Basket and Ouran are about a reverse harem, making the girl the center of attention in a group full of guys. The series both also deal with morality issues that are expressed throughout the show with a great deal of humor thrown into the mix.

If you loved Fruits Basket, you will also love Ouran High School Host Club. I won't reveal too much but it's basically areverse harem in a super rich school where this smart girl who looks like a boy, Haruhi Fujioka, manages to have to pay back these rich kids by pretending to be a boy in their host club. It's funny with gorgeous boys who each fit into a specific category that a girl would find attractive in a man. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Both have some comedy as well as cuteness and romance!! If your into romance and love triangles then ouran Highschool host club is a good choice. Only difference is that there aren't any fictional stuff like turning I too animals cx

There's something about the both of them that just makes them go hand in hand. Maybe it's the harem or the slice of life aspect. I'm not quite sure, but they really are worth the watch if you like either one of them.

While Fruits Basket is the more lighthearted of the two, both of these titles involve a girl who is now living with supernatural-type beings. Romance and drama is apparant in both, plus a hefty dose of shoujo. If you liked one, try out the other.

Kari5 Kari5 says...

Both of these are comedy shoujo manga about a teenage girl who lives with suspernatural beings. The main female characters are also very similar; they're both poor but independent girls who work hard so they don't have to depend on others. If you enjoyed one I'm sure you'll enjoy the other.

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Sawako Kuronuma is just like any other high school girl who wants to make friends and be useful. The only problem is she bears a worrying resemblance to Sadako from 'The Ring!' Because of her reputation, people are not only terrified of her, but small dogs even bark in fear at her presence; in fact, the only person in school who will talk to her is the lively class hottie, Kazehaya. As the pair spends more time together, Kazehaya slowly begins to bring Sawako out of her shell and soon their feelings for each other develop further. Though with her crippling insecurities, lack of social skills, and a series of cruel rumors and misunderstandings, it seems that Sawako's dream of a normal life won’t be quite so easy to obtain.

In both of theses series, there is a very sweet and innocent female protaganist who really brings a refreshing look on relationships and what it means to kind.  This innocent kindness really sucks the reader into the character, which creates a very addictive story.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

The lifestyles both heroines lead in Kimi ni Todoke and Fruits Basket are similar.  They are trying to find a way to successfully fit in with the people around them.  For Tohru (Fruits Basket), she already has the winning personality and can easily make friends but she has to put that to good use to help the people around her.  Sadako (Kimi ni Todoke) desperatly wants to make friends with the people around her but everyone things she is scary, she goes out of her way to try and help everyone to gain their friendship.  Both girls are naive and beyond nice.

Both plots seem to take on interesting variations as the manga progress; they have unforgettable characters and a flair for comedic moments. Fruits Basket is a more ‘cute' type of manga whereas Chobits has a little more of an ecchi quality about it, but they are both very endearing.

Alyrii Alyrii says...

They're both very cutesy. Fruits Basket seems to have more meaning, but they both kind of have underlying importance.
