Fetish and Beautiful People are beautifully-illustrated josei compilations. The included one-shots are psychological and dark, and gave me a similar feeling (touching but rather melancholy). I recommend both for fans of one-shots.
(Beautiful People has some supernatural elements, while Fetish is rather more graphic, and is about various obsessions.)
Ririko is Japan's top fashion model; her image is on every magazine cover and in everyone's mind. But in private, Ririko is very unhappy, confused and lost. Overworked and tired, she turns to dangerous experimental procedures to maintain her youth and beauty. However, soon it's not enough and Ririko begins to fall into a downward spiral filled with lies, surgery, and blackmail. Just how far is Ririko willing to go to stay on top? And who is the true woman behind all the make up and rumors?
Obsession. Helter Skelter and Fetish focus on obsessions, and the depths to which they cause people to sink. Helter Skelter is about physical beauty, while Fetish encompasses different types of obsessions (generally concerning other people).
