Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

In the near future, some girls are born mutated. Known as Diclonius, this new species is believed to have been chosen by God to wipe out mankind. Unlike regular humans, Diclonius have two horns on their head and ‘vectors' - invisible ‘hands.' Contained within a research facility unknown to the world, the Diclonius are experimented upon mercilessly; many die or develop a hate for mankind. One such creature, Lucy, is said to be the first of the Diclonius. She escapes from the facility, but while fleeing she takes a bullet to the head and is seemingly killed. However, it seems Lucy isn't quite dead yet; she's instead developed an alternate personality called Nyuu. She's washed up on a shore where two people, Kouta and Yuka, find her and bring her home, unaware that such a monster still lurks within Nyuu.

Elfen Lied and Death Note involve the morally skewed notion of murdering people ruthlessly. Each series is deliberately made to be graphically morbid throughout. The murders also take place in unnatural ways while demonstrating the grotesque mindset of the killers.

Both of the main characters in Death Note and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya have a desire to change the world that they are in. In Death Note, Light decides to change it in a drastic violent, way as opposed to Haruhi who wants to start over completely.

Code:Breaker

Code:Breaker

Sakura Sakurakouji may seem like a frail and demure girl, but in reality she’s a powerful martial artist with an unmatched sense of justice. That boy is Rei Ogami, a merciless assassin known as a "Code Breaker", and the latest student to join Sakura’s class! Although the two series are very different, there is a similarity in the way the characters try to take the law into their own hands, to kill the criminals where they cannot be justified by law.

Both series focus on cleaning up a society through the death of its members. While Death Note follows a vigiliante wishing to erase criminals from the entire world, Ikigami follows a government worker just doing his job-- telling people they are about to die. They have a similar philosphical feel and even the artwork seems similar.

Enigma

Enigma

Sumio has a very unique ability: he sometimes falls asleep and unconsciously writes premonitions into a 'Dream Diary.' And while his divinations are usually harmless, Sumio's life is changed forever when he accurately predicts his mother's disappearance in an elevator. Shortly after, he awakens at school along with a handful of others and is forced into a dangerous game by an unknown being named Enigma. Now, the group must use their special abilities to escape the building in the next 72 hours or suffer a cost more horrifying than they can imagine. Will Sumio manage to help unify the group and get everyone out alive?

Enigma & Death Note have plenty of similarities to be connected as recomendation, both series are psychological thrillers with a nice pinch of supernatural. There's always a misterious atmosphere that will end the chapters with cliffhangers, making the viewer mad curious about what is going to happen next. On a final note... I'd like to give my thumbs up for character design in both mangas as well.
