Devil May Cry 3

Devil May Cry 3

Long ago the world was split in two: the realm of darkness inhabited by demons, and a land of light where humans dwell. When the king of the dark world decided to unite the two lands, a war broke out that was ended by a dark knight named Sparda. Now the legend of Sparda is nothing but a fairytale, and while most have forgotten it, the bloodline still lives on. Dante is Sparda’s half-human son who, using his twin guns Ebony and Ivory, works as a demon-slayer for hire. One day, his friend Enzo tells him of a new job and with a hefty reward on the line, Dante accepts. In order to claim his reward, Dante must locate a missing girl named Alice, but when his search leads him to a nightmarish wonderland, he must confront his past as he becomes involved in a plan to break the seal to the demonic realm and engulf the world in darkness once more...

There is no denying that Claymore and Devil May Cry are similar.  The main characters (Claire and Dante) are so much alike in their cool self-demeanor and personalities in dealing with the people around them.  Not to mention that they both conveniently happen to be half-demon/half-human.  They also have a very pronounced soft side that comes through when they are interacting with the children they seem to pick up along the way.

Claymore and Shikabane Hime are about strong females that have unique abilities.  While being not quite human that female protagonists have to help their male counterparts, while the series takes you through their unique relationships together.

Both Claymore and The Legend of Maian feature a weak boy traveling with a strong, older chick. Also, both of those have this medievalish fantasy setting. If you liked one of them, you might actually like the other one too.

If you want to read a manga which has a badass chick with huge sword than Claymore and Dark Air are titles for you. BTW, Claymore has more than one of those :)

As odd as it may sound the Sura creatures from Kubera reminded me of the awakened beings from Claymore. Both are monsters that can take human from, but also have a form that doesn't look human at all. They appear intelligent, but can revert to acting based on emotions, instincts and desires way too easily. Both show little respect towards human life and even their own kin (though there are exceptions in Kubera). If you found those creatures interesting in one series, you might want to give the other one a try.

Note: Claymore features gore, but Kubera does not.
