Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School is a prestigious private academy where money and status count for everything. Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the elite school, and is appalled by the lazy attitude of the rich and powerful students towards their studies. The Host Club is a clear example of this: a group of six attractive and wealthy boys spend their time entertaining the female pupils for a profit. When Haruhi accidentally breaks a ¥8,000,000 vase belonging to the club, they force her to work off her debt as one of the club's members; and to do so, she must masquerade as a boy! Can Haruhi keep her gender a secret from the club's exclusive clients?

Both series are about a club of men who are dedicated to making women feel good. In both situations, a girl is dragged into joining, even though she is apathetic to the idea. Both series include humor and romance, and everyone is pursuing their dreams.

Beauty Pop is like a condensed version of Ouran High School Host Club.  Both are about clubs of talented guys coming to the aid of women, and the female protagonist getting roped into it.  Ouran High School Host Club has all the plot points and characters that are in Beauty Pop (and then some), only they are developed a lot further.  The main protagonists are similar but Ouran High School Host Club's is a lot more developed and likeable (that goes for most of the characters).  There's a lot more romance and humour than in Beauty Pop, too.

If you liked Beauty Pop - and you don't mind a little cross-dressing - you'll love Ouran High School Host Club.

If you liked either Beauty Pop or Ouran High School Host Club, you will definitely enjoy the other :) The cast present many similarities. I constantly found myself comparing Tamaki and Kyouya from Ouran with Narumi and Ochiai from Beauty Pop respectively. The same goes for the leading female protagonists. The plots and setting, while not identical, do hold some similarities as well. Ouran is definitely the sillier of the two, though Beauty Pop also makes you laugh. If you find yourself loving either of these manga, please check out the other!

Kiri and Haruhi's personalities are very similar, they are both blunt, frank, and are in similar positions. Haruhi is unwillingly put in a harem sorta thing with the host club thats for guys, while Kiri is unwillingly put in a hairstyling club cuz she has talent for that. A lot of the main male characters fall in love w/ both of them over time. Ochiai (megane from BP) and Kyouya (megane from OHSHC) are both misers and underhanded and have glasses. Kei(BP) and Hunny(OHSHC) are both sorta short, love food/snacks/cake, are very cute and bubbly. I loved both these seires anyways.

The manga are both similar to each other. Both male characters like to compete with female character and the both male characters are very funny and they are both rich. The female characters are also same they are both silent and smart.

Female leads are vastly similar, they both have nonchalant moods although Beauty Pop's lead has a much deeper background and attitude. Both manga have multiple love rivals and satisfying endings that will want you craving for more.

everblaze09 everblaze09 says...

Both female leads are pretty dense and are better than the male lead. Also, both mangas are about rivalries. Both male leads come from pretty well off families.

In front of the mirror, Rin would play with the make up, which becomes like a magic that makes her stronger. Rin believes make up can change both appearance and heart, because it gives the confidence a girl needs. Years later, Rin attends her first high school year. She decides to help other girls there to become pretty as well, using her make up box. Rin, hidden under the identity of Ageha, a legendary make up stylist, with help from her classmate Kisaragi, who has to hide his real identity by crossdressing as a woman, is willing to do magic in front of the mirror and change girls “just like when a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly”.

Szwagier Szwagier says...

Both mangas are a stories about a high school girl with a great talent in one field of work ( hairdressing in Beauty Pop and acting in Cat Street). Due to childhood trauma that character decided to give up the dream of succeding in that job, and just live a normal high school life instead (or just give up on school in Cat Street case). Due to influence of  new friends she slowly changes her mind, accepting her talent.

While Cat Street is bittersweet and a bit sad story, and Beauty Pop is more comedic, they are both stories about reaching your dreams. If you like one you should check the other as well.

Both are based around a club and a freshman who is extremely talented at what the club does, and how she becomes a part of the club. Although one is about kendo, and the other about beauty, both include girls who have been using their talent since they were young, along with a lot of humour and competitions!

The main character in both of these mangas is so awesomely apathetic and disinterested in the gaggle of bishies surrounding them, if you're like me and get a good giggle out of watching overly confident guys being knocked down a peg, you'll love both of these.

Peach Girl

Peach Girl

With a noticeable tan and bleached hair, Momo Adachi is a high school student who is frequently misunderstood by her classmates. She's accused of being a playgirl and is the subject of many rumors, most of which originate from her ‘best friend' Sae who is jealous of Momo due to them having a crush on the same boy. Momo's life only gets worse when Kairi Okayasu, who she once saved from drowning, decides to make her his own. Kairi coming into Momo's life only encourages Sae to spread more rumors about Momo and Kairi while going after Toji herself, creating quite a complicated situation for everyone involved.

These two manga take arms against society's version of beauty and argue that any girl can be beautiful, so you should be happy to be yourself! They do so in rather different manners, but the message is there, and it's rather refreshing.
