If you liked the Battle Angel Alita manga, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...
The character of Misaka reminds me of Alita in a lot of ways (Not least of all being visuals...), both are fearless, kick-ass fighter girls who routinely face off against overwhelming odds. If you liked one, you'd probably like the other.
Born beneath the gallows tree from which his dead mother hung, Guts has always existed on the boundary between life and death. After enduring a terrible childhood, he spends his adulthood in brutal combat, pitting his strength against others in order to build his own. Life is simple enough for Guts until he meets Griffith, the inspirational, ambitious, and beautiful leader of the mercenaries, the Band of the Hawk. When Guts loses to Griffith in a duel, he is forced to join the Band of the Hawk, and, despite himself, finds a sense of camaraderie and belonging amongst them. However, as Griffith leads his soldiers from victory to victory, the bloody wars and underhanded politics reveal a side to him that nobody quite expected. Very soon, what seems like a straightforward march for conquest becomes a harrowing struggle for humanity and life itself. Can Guts, a simple warrior, defend those who have come to mean the most to him, all the while struggling not to lose to the darkness he has carried with him his entire life?
though coming from two different genres, at their core berserk and battle angel alita have alot in common. both are character driven, dark and violent. underscore that with intrigueing plots and great art and you have two books that just feel the same.
if you like one, then definitely give the other a try.
In a dark, dystopic future, the Church of Transfiguration was formed; their charter was to promote extreme cybernetic enhancements. However, mankind also perfected the art of immortality through genetic manipulation, and then the great ruin came. Now, the Church sends its Inquisition to track down these genetically modified beings, and the only one who is seemingly able to stand in their way is Digimortal, a deadly, violent mercenary...
The city of Hole is a desolate town where magic users go to test their powers by disfiguring or killing its people. After being cursed by a sorceror, Kaiman was left with the body of a man and the head of a lizard. Determined to break the spell over him, Kaiman works with his companion, Nikaido, to search for the one who made him this way. Unfortunately, with no memory as to his assailant’s identity there’s only one way for him to locate them: he must bite the head of any magic user he meets so that the man hidden inside him can determine if they are the culprit. As he bites, slashes and kills his way through the cruel magic users, will Kaiman be able to find out who the man in his mouth is, where the one he hunts is hiding and return to normal, while keeping the revengeful magic users at bay?
Besides Dorohedoro being somewhat of a bizarre dark comedy at times and BAA being anything but, imo both of these are a very strong recommendation. Huge worlds with gritty, dark artwork, a plot that moves between groups of characters with tons coming onboard all the time, quite a dark/intriguing/unique story, just overall they feel quite similar.
