As a baby, Yusura was abandoned under a cherry tree along with a mysterious blue staff known as Kongoumaru. Now, Yusura is fifteen-years-old and works as a 'Hikeshiya.' Using Kongoumaru, she can absorb people's sorrow and send it back those who caused it - for a price. With the help of cheerful Minekichi, a young samurai named Samon and a ninja named Kazenosuke, Yusura helps alleviate the sadness of the world; but what she really wants is to discover the identity of her real parents and find out the origin of Kongoumaru.
Tohru Honda might just be the unluckiest girl around. After a series of unfortunate events Tohru has no place to call home - that is, until the wealthy yet cursed Sohma family offer to take her in, in exchange for performing the household chores. However, soon Tohru discovers that there's much more to the Sohma family than meets the eye. Though shocked and surprised, Tohru promises to keep their secrets; but will the Sohma family approve of an outsider knowing who they really are?
OK, so although the genres of these two are quite different (Appare being a historical/fantasy romp and Fruits a supernatural/school romance) both these titles are pretty funny and self depreciating! Also each heroine has that can-do-attitude and is surrounded by a group of hot but dim bishies. What more could a shoujo fan want?
