The story setting of Feudal Japan is seen in both Amatsuki and Hakuouki Junrenka with intense fighting scenes and spirits popping out of nowhere. There also happens to be an underlying layer of mystery shrouding the characters.
Kagome was just a normal girl, until one day she fell into a well that brought her to feudal-era Japan. After encountering hordes of demons and discovering that she's the reincarnation of a priestess, Kagome must now journey to protect a sacred jewel from evil with the help of a half-demon named Inuyasha. Along the way they make many enemies and friends, and travel between the modern and feudal eras.
With both InuYasha and Amatsuki a person (Kagome in InuYasha and Amatsuki in Amatsuki) are pulled into a strange world in the feudal days. Both encounter monsters and demons along the way in which they have to find people to help them defeat the demons and go back to their own world. Each series has the same type of feeling to them.
Chihiro and her family are on their way to their new home, when they discover an abandoned amusement park. After Chihiro's family mysteriously turn into pigs, she is thrown into a surreal world of magic and fantasy. Join her as she struggles to survive in the bathhouse of the gods, ruled by an evil witch who has stolen not only her name, but her way back to the real world.
Amatsuki and Spirited Away have characters from the modern day world that magically get transferred back into a timeless world of the spirits. They each have to try and find a way to get back to their own time.
