I didn't mind this chapter, I thought it was rather funny. His feelings for her always crack me up ever since it was revealed. It's rather suffocating

This chapter has me convinced Gildarts is gonna die or be pronounced dead next arc.
The development with Cana, the fact that he's FT's strongest mage, and that he got a whole "filler" chapter to himself, it's all leading up to people caring when he's gone.

in any other manga i might agree with you but in fairy tail ppl rarely die. Jellal never dies, the bad guys always pop up again somehow, the first master who should be by all rights dead and gone comes back as spirit (i have no issue with this but still), etc... The only 'good guy' who died is Simon because he was dumped by Erza, and after all these chapters having only one death of a good guy just goes to show.
