the sand is actually the spirit of his mother's blood/chakra that instinctively protects him and he uses ninjitsu to manipulate it

It kind of erks me that Sakura hates on Naruto and ridicules him even though he saved her life and trains hard to become stronger. She fails to acknowledge that and give him credit.

Sasuke hasn't done much of anything for her but she doesn't show any appreciation to what Naruto has done. It's rather sad and doesn't make sense. I guess that's just the way the developer's made her personality in which I can safely say I don't like it.

@TMOF- ah, thanks. I kinda skimmed a lot of the Gaara back story a while ago (since I find Gaara annoying), so I figured I must've missed something.

I didn't really want to comment but I guess I need to. That isn't right at all. The automatic protection is from Shukaku, as he had it before

his parents died

. He still has his sand power

even after Shukaku is extracted, just not the automatic power.

He keeps sand in the gourd/calabash because it's infused with his chakra thus making it much easier to manipulate than extracting it from the ground and using it.


On second thought, maybe I'm getting confused with that other sand guy, the one with puppets. How annoying.

I wasn't sure so I just went to my room looked through my volumes, because I don't like not being sure.

And it's as I said.

His Aunt Yashamaru says to him "I think your sand has inherited your mother's will" or such, but a few pages she says, "Ha ha I was lying! Your mother hated you, I hate you, your father hates you! Everyone hates you! Your mother died cursing your existence. Now die with me!"
And such. So no, I'm sure it's just Shukaku Gaara protecting because it doesn't want to lose it's host. Though, I never really understood why they don't want to lose their host.

On an unrelated note, I find it mildly amusing how much it's played down that the Kazekage had three wives and three children, namely Kankuro, Temari and Gaara. They really don't act, or look, like half-siblings, to me anyway.

I'm pretty sure that if they lose their host, they die with the host. It'd only be natural to put up a fight. I think that's the main reason Tobi wants them still alive for the extraction process.

Yeah, probably. I get the feeling that that creates a plot hole somewhere, but maybe not.

MOST RECENT CHAPTERS HYPOTHETICAL SPOILERS, BUT STILL SPOILERS

Tobi= Madara Uchiha = Danzou
It seems that way anyway. I don't see any canon contradiction in it, that I can recall anyway.

1. Village destroyed? Danzou/Madara is very pro-war and quite likely believes that the village needed to be destroyed to wake them up from their complacency. Which oddly enough, is similar to this recent (a few days ago) statement from a former CIA agent.

MICHAEL SCHEUER: The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States....only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them.

Pain's attack certainly was like a "major weapon". How is did Danzou get elected? He made the case that he would protect them. How convenient for him to set up the very attack that gets him elected.

2. He told Sasuke to kill the other Kage. Why? So he can eventually be the leader of every country, or at least have a grand old war. The fact that he ordered Sasuke to be killed is fine, because he was upset at Sasuke for failing him coupled with that he's a eventual threat to Madara.

3. The last page of the newest chapter. He's lost his vision in is right eye, probably like it says happens from using the Mangekyo Sharingan too much. Also on this last page, he's planning to kill off anyone who might know anything about him.

4. Root, emotionless supersoldiers, tongue tattoos, forming a powerbase within "enemy" territory.

AGAINST:
In some filler episode of the anime it shows Danzo as a young guy or something, but it's like in the last 2 minutes after that credits thing and very non-canon.

NOTE: I'm not saying that I think Danzou was plotted to be Madara from the beginning, I think at some point it just happened. But, if it was planned that far ahead, that's cool too.
