613: Pretty great chapter.

So, it's very likely that Inoichi and most importantly Shikaku are dead now. That sucks, he was a pretty cool character, but I think it was handled well and it'll be a good way of developing Shikamaru a bit more.

Now, if he happens to be alive by a miracle at the end of all of this, that'll be another Kishimoto major screw-up. Although I'm betting he won't do that this time.

At least, he seems to have left them all with an important legacy. Let's see if his last plan to stop that godlike beast was worth the interest I'm feeling right now.



By the way, I like the new looks of the Juubi. It's kinda like the final boss of an RPG - in a good way.

He only had the little time the chakra ball took to get there to tell them all about the plan. Running away was impossible to begin with and even less so if he had to focus on explaining himself.

I'm hoping for the big transition to be just because the plan wasn't mean to be known already and there was no good way of skipping that part and not skipping the death instant as well without it looking weird.

Of course, Kishimoto could always pull another Nagato or similar here, but that'd be inimaginably cheap.

Nah, as much as I hate to say it, Shikaku and Inoichi (AND AO AND AOBA, SHIT) are gone. This is war and it'd be unrealistic if all the characters with any sort of significance lived through it. And know what, those guys won't be the last ones to go either.
I'm pretty sure Shikaku's plan will eventually succeed. It's got to.

It's pretty much an anime/manga rule that if the readers don't get to know what the plan is then it'll succeed, while it will fail if they do get to hear it.

Hehe. I agree with this.

But the deaths didn't have an major impact on me (maybe because it didn't seem as if they died or maybe because they had too little screen time). I liked them though.

Anyways, they were important to the war and it will be interesting to see how the alliance fares now that their main strategist and communication center is gone. And I hope they stay dead. Otherwise it will be pretty ridiculous if, even with the alliance numbers decreasing rapidly, at the end of the war all major characters, save one, survive.
