I was just browsing the forums here and realized no one had created a topic for this anime, so I decided to whip one up, see if I could get some opinions. Personally, I enjoyed it immensely. From the reviews I've seen, though, there seems to be a wide range of opinions on this, so I wanted to hear some other perspectives.

Personally, I thought that the emotion present in the story felt very real, and that the character development was remarkably full for a 4-episode OAV. I'm generally not a huge fan of "deep/artsy" animes, e.g. Lain, but I really found the technical aspects of this show like the lack of color and music and the odd matching between visuals and audio to be very appropriate. The actual drawing style took a little getting used to, but once I did I found it to fit as well.

I suppose I ought to try and analyze my own reasoning a bit more, but for some reason I find it difficult to determine exactly what it is that I connected with in this series to make it so enjoyable for me. So that's my little beginning, any thoughts?

Wow. Just got the first three Lament of the Lamb mangas, and I really love the way they're elaborating so much more on the characters' feelings and relationships... this one's a win in my book, even if the art is kinda inconsistent. Some frames are incredible, while in others the characters appear misproportioned or generally odd. That's the only thing that detracts for me, though, and even that doesn't bother me much, since it sort of adds to the artsy feel the same way the lack of color did in Hitsuji no Uta.

I'm honestly not sure, though, whether I like having the stuff out in the open like in the mangas, or more implied like in the OAV. It's hard to decide. What do you think, implicit or explicit, which is better? <---(pitiful attempt to maintain conversation)
