Default Arakawa

Finally something good this season! As usual SHAFT recovers after a dud, and with that cast it's frankly hard to go wrong. Sonchou even looks like Fujiwara :D

Nothing new style-wise, but in contrast to Bund they succeeded at working to a budget. The show lives through characters and dialogue, and after Arashi I have faith in Akao (let's rationalize Asura Crying by assuming it would have been even worse without her)

Now excuse me while I watch Maaya deadpanning again.

I just saw the first episode. It started off like it was going to be serious, and it quickly changed directions. It was like they changed the plot within just the first episode. Pretty good.

I'll admit, I liked that episode, but I have serious reservations about the rest of the series. Shinbo's directing is way too heavy-handed and he uses the same tricks/techniques in all of his shows, and I'm not amused anymore. It sucks that such promising-looking source material could be ruined for me like this...

I was far from impressed. At no point did I ever feel even the slightest creeping towards something being funny.

Reminded me of Bakemonogatari...

i laughed a lot. it was rather funny. Obviously it won't be deep or anything... but it certainly stands out as the funniest new show of the season. I'm definitely interested to see more.

Arakawa was kind of a hit-and-miss for me. Shinbo honestly seems a bit like a one-trick pony at this point. I'll probably watch a few more episodes, but if I still don't enjoy it, I'll probably end up dropping it.

Kamiya Hiroshi's been busy lately huh? It was a very Bakemonogatari like show, almost too much so. The comedy and a few things are a bit different though, because the people seem really off-the-wall, still it was a very funny and cool show, just right now it still seems like Bakemonogatari's "cute but not really that hot" sister...hopefully a few more episodes help change that.
