Of course they would want to put all of what happened behind them, the thing I reacted upon was the ease of which they seemed to have done just that. How is that they were able to put everything away so easy? Where's the feelings of awkwardness after meeting someone who raped you or tried to kill you? Where's the drama you could expect after the episodes of angst? Instead we get a silly comedic utopia where nothing is solved (concerning relationships) and everyone is jolly.

"It being a war doesn't make it okay. But it makes it..how do I say it...neccessary? Everyone was easily trciekd into fighting because of the dire and tense situation...and everyone KNEW that Noa was the troublemaker...and thus it wasn't all that hard to exploit that (which Sister did)..."

Actually I don't see the necessity of trying to kill your friend, even under those circumstances. Most friends would've just cooperated and found an alternative way out, "beating the system". But as I said earlier I don't mind how things turned out in that apartment, I like the Battle Royale-esque part of Mai-Hime. What don't like is the way they basicly brushed everything that happened during those episodes away, like it never happened. It almost felt like something out of Memento ;).

If they still had grudges against eachother it sure didn't show at all. It's the easy way out to blame everything on the "hime"-star and then make everyone such good friends again. Relationships aren't that easy and shouldn't be treated as such.

Well and let us not forget that these girls are some 16 - 18 Years. Personaly..no...well it's better than 14 year olds saving the world."

What, you don't want to entrust the fate of the earth to a mentally unstable, low-esteem, 14-year old boy? ;)

Anyway, neither the circumstances, the "hime"-stars' influence or their low age is an excuse to murder and rape. I'm not saying that they should be punished, I just wished for an ending where they stopped pretending like those things never happened (and worse, not developing Mai and Tate's romantic relationship to a satisfying point).

Okay, since you don't seem to want to continue the discussion, we'll stop here. I think I've gotten across my point too =)

For me, one of the main problems of the ending was that it became so arbitrary and totaly ilogical. For example, Duran becomes some kind of gigantic robot, without any reasons. They said that the Childs are strong as the love the girls have for their loved ones, and when you beat another child, your own gets stronger.

But Duran not only never beated another child, but also the girl who comanded it didnt had anyone to truly love. That thing about loving the memory of her mother instead of how she really was was TOTALY BULLSHIT, and for me a really cheep shot. They just wanted to make Duran look damw big but didnt knew how.

Also, we all know that power does corrupt people. Sometimes people are just humble because they cant do otherwise. So, it can be possible that the girls did all that just because they could, but just because they lost their power doesnt mean everything can go back to how it was.

And another thing that really bothered me is the fact that they clearly got rid of the anoying characters and kept the ones that were more apealing to the public. Haruka-chan was a pain in the ass, so what do we do? Get rid of her (without any real reasons). Also, keep the damw psycho bitch Shizuru, that was suposed to graduate but stays at college just because of her ecchi relationship. That was cheap too.

But as said before, the biggest problem is that the series ends even more stupid and ecchi as it started. It started somewhat serious, and became much darker, but by the end it was just plain stupid and shameless. There is no reason to explain logicaly why that happens, unless they all sufered some serve psychological problem where they mass forgoten about what happened and started acting like stupid Care Bears.

I have no doubt that they did all that just because they want to do a second ecchi season. Its like, in the last minute, they had the idea and had to do some bizarre shift towards some stupid brainless girls high school anime.

Oh, and the fightings between the childs were not even good. They hardly moved and they all only had one or two special powers. And the battles were also too short and the childs died so easily.

i agree that the happy end was very out of place..after such tragic events, everyone was sitting in the parc, having picnic..i couldn't believe it..

and I always thought that there had been something wrong with Reito-san..these extremely kind and perfect people are always weird..and soon it's revealed that they talk about killing, death, destroying etc the same "kind" way as they talk about love and friendship..

As for the ending,

On one hand, yeah, I didn't really like how it went so suddenly to happy rainbow sunshine. But mainly, I just think that if anybody deserved a happy ending, they did. Especially Mai. I mean damn, I lost count of how many times she got thrown under the bus.

btw, have you guys seen the manga? I heard it was "better than the anime", so I downloaded some and checked it out. Boy, was I disappointed.

I was also highly disappointed with the manga counterpart. Tate's character didn't appeal to me at all, so I was surprised to see him that much in the manga (the little of it that I read.) To me, he's just a character in the background getting in the way of the other characters. A lot of the non-Hime characters of course kind of did that for me too, but at least they were tolerable watch to me. I wouldn't have minded if the manga was nearly the same as the anime (a few changes I don't mind,) but about the art, I thought it was worse than the anime version of Mai Hime.

*sigh* Look now, I can't abide any Natsuki bashing. Duran disappeared because Natsuki realized her mother tried to sell her, thus making her feelings for her mother less than 'nice'. Duran returns when Natsuki realizes that she loves Shizuru. The end.

For all you guys that haven't had a chance to get the show for yourselves the "Anime Legends" set will be out this Oct. Don't know about the price of it yet because its not listed yet but the MSRP is 29.99. So the anime sites that are going to sell it will have it lower. :)

In response to all the criticism about the ending, I have to say that

that's true, but I'm not sure how I could have improved on it. Yes, reviving them all and pretty much resetting it is somewhat unrealistic, but *not* doing so I'd say makes a worse ending. If you just leave them dead, it's just like '... what now?'

I mean, if the more minor (and now dead) characters had been developed less, that'd be one thing, and it could go off in a sort of "there's a huge body count, but our heroes go off with their love story so we don't care about the rest of the carnage" ending, but with that much of the story 'belonging' to those characters, killing them all off seems a bit problematic.

It'd feel more like how the Gantz anime ended

where everyone ended up dead.
