Basically, just started this and been looking forward to it for ages. Crest was a great show and to see Lafiel and Jinto back together kicking political arse... a pleasure unlike any other. Hehehe.

Episode 1:

What a powerful start. I love the way this show can achieve this vastnes of scope whilst retaining a sharp and nuanced focus on the characters. The monologue at the end really grabbed me, cannot wait for more.

Hehehe. I am SO glad I picked this up. I'm watching three great series at the moment (Tutu, Twelve Kingdoms, and this), and I think this one will have my favourite characters. I just know it.

SnS I was great, but personally I always felt like SnS II is a better series overall. I always saw SnS I as some sort of interlude between two sublime series (CotS and SnS II). Don't get me wrong, I thought it was an awesome show, but somewhat weaker than the other two, though not necessarily by much (mainly because I thought they spent too much time on showing us space battles). Still, there are a couple of incredibly poignant scenes in there that make this series stand out amongst other space-operas.

my score: 5 / 5 (or 9.5 on anidb)

sorry that makes me laugh cause i don't think you can spend too much time on that when that's what the anime is about as well :P

but i do agree that it was the weaker of the 3

i'll always have a weak spot for space battles. especially when well done :D

I'm sorry but I don't see what's funny about it, SnK II barely shows any real space battles, most of the actions occur on solid soil and I thought it was perfect like that. And to a lesser extent, it was the same with CotS (except ep. 3 to 6 that were very space-operaesque).

So saying that the Seikai saga is "all about space battles" is, imo, far from accurate.

Ep 2

I agree that I prefer the non-space battles stuff since that's where most of the drama is. The space battles are a bit too technical to be as gripping.

Episode 2 continued well, although it was mainly transition. I'm liking Lafiel's crew, though. And that brazen captain lady iwth the red lipstick (Spoor?) is really growing on me. Hehehe. I wasn't that interested in her in the first season, but here her personality's shining through nicely.

Seriously, though, I can't wait for the main beefy parts of the story to kick in. I just sense so much tragedy ahead.
