Ahhh you crazy people, all long anime based on manga eventually turns into ass when it becomes FILLER ville. Then you get to watch 100 episodes of crap while the manga builds up enough space for the show to start following it again...
...READ THE MANGA

Really, if you are looking for an engaging and constantly entertaining storyline from 100+ ep series your going to be disappointed. I mean any show where the main character powers up then the villain powers up, then the main character powers up, and so on and so on, is never really 'uphill' imo.

I basically just watch Bleach for the shallow action but recently I have about 10 weeks worth of shows saved up and I am debating on deleting them.

I don't have much of an issue with watching fillers, and while I do agree that people should read the manga. I'm of the opinion that the anime was never all that great to begin with, or rather, the anime was a huge disappointment.

Anyway, in terms of Bleach going downhill. I've always thought Bleach went downhill after they entered Soul Society. Storywise, it took/takes entirely too long for anything to happen. It was mainly mediocre fighting. (Which I found more enjoyable in the manga.)

Edit: On the bright side though, I am glad that Yu Yu Hakusho has no fillers lol. (No point whatsoever, just thought I throw that in there anyway)

What do you guys think?
Don't worry you don't have to deal with weak Ichigo for too long. He gets all his powers back, and then some. But, yeah it is going down hill. Bleach is just one rescue mission after another (except for the bounto arc). Right now it is just that other show I'm watching. It isn't on my high priority watch list.

IMO Bleach has always been downhill. I do think that it has a great story, and I read the Manga and watch the Anime.... but its so freaking predictable. All series are predictable to some extent, but Bleach seems to live the same theme through every freaking ARC...

1. New powerful villains arive
2. Ichigo runs into said bad guys, has fight
3. After the first ARC, Ichigo usually starts to win with aquired new powers from last ARC
4. Something happens, and Ichigo get his arse kicked
5. Ichigo, through training or help, becomes powerful again
6. Someone he cares about gets kidnapped/hurt
7. Ichigo goes to the rescue trying to leave everyone else out of it (his friends)
8. Friends follow, Soul Society follows
9. VICTORY
10. Rinse and Repeat

I wish they would get thier heads out of thier asses and do something that is really interesting like Who Ichigos father is, and why he was a captain, what he was captain of, and why he left..... There are a million things they could have done for filler that was WAY more interesting than what they are doing now.....

Really, just disappointing.

Bleach have only one good story Arc - Soul Society. There you have some intrigue , powering up but to an acceptable level, and nicely animated fighting. After that you got a really boring filler. But surviving the filler because everyone promises good action later is a biiiig mistake. Vizard arc is weak, but it's stilll barely watchable. Hueco Mundo is just plain fail - I dropped at that point. The story was going nowhere, the animation was getting worse and worse... Imo it's best to give up bleach when Soul society ARc ends. Saves a lot of time and nerves.

Episode 166 was the last "awesomeness" episode. Since that episode, it's sucked balls.

I don't think I have much right to speak here, since I have seen only two episodes of Bleach at a geek party (episodes somewhere in the middle), but I thought that it was horrible anyway. It's indeed 'DragonballZ with swords', and I don't consider that a compliment.

What actually happened that it really went downhill? Did the characters stop speaking or something?

Exactly. Same crap, different arc. And I really used to love Bleach too.

I'm going to be the only person to take up for bleach in this thread. Everyone has agreed that most fillers suck and don't really help any show. Bleach has a great show, but you have to wait or just skip the fillers of the show. I've watched up to the current of subbed releases of Bleach in japan and the show's doing amazing. Just give it time since the Bounto filler's quite horrible, I'd to struggle through it. Any anime that lasts longer than 50 episodes usually has to take some time to get things finished in the series due to multi. project that company's working. For example, I believe that Bleach's the same team from One piece and possibly Naruto. I'm not full convienced on this detail, but I'm willing to listen to anyone who has the facts.
