Watching it right now, it's pretty enjoyable. Not hilarious but still has funny moments the mix is quite right between laughs, the fantasy part and the more "slice of life" parts. The anime has the Shinto tag but I don't think it really matters, I didn't see any Shinto references simply because I don't know anything about this religion, well I didn't see except for the very few side notes added with the fan-subs.

The part with Shiro-chan was quite touching. In ep 18

They finally decided the seal her, I was disappointed, I wanted her to live with Tooru damnit! She was so lovely this... Angel? Demon? Something? lol. Kuugen wanted Tooru to be happy and stay with Shiro but those selfish Oni couldn't let them be that way.

Episode 1

Not the best dialogue or animation, but totally endearing in every other way.
I've already banked that I am going to love this since I am pretty obsessed with kitsune folklore.

Some parts seemed a little generic... and I don't think fighting lightning with water is all that cunning. I feel like I've seen Kou's character a few times before, the brothers would be completely interchangeable if it weren't for their height, but I get the feeling they'll both develop well over the series. Tooru has his immediate bond with Kuu-chan and Noboru maturing as head of the family. I think Yukana Nogami was a good choice for Kuugen's seiyuu, she has a good balance of maturity and mischievousness in this.

Episode 1:

The first episode was really average but the show has potential. Kuu reminds me of Horo, intelligent and wise but also mischievous, depending on how her dialogue is written she could be an awesome character. However I don't think the writing or dialogue were particularly strong this episode and in fact they kind of got worse as the episode went on. With the exception of Kuu all of the character were boring and the plot itself was nothing special but this was just an introductory episode so it can get away with being average.

I did think the last scene on the train was kind of funny though. Also if Kuu decides to become male that would make it Kuu-kun right? :P

Episode 2

I think I underestimated Kou, she is hilarious in a super serious way. Some of her lines in this ep made me laugh. Also, I like the end clips... little comedy snippets. What is up with the "kekekeke" laugh of Kuu and Ebisu though? This episode was still very similar to the first, but entertaining nonetheless. I can't really see any plot other than the fact Tooru was being targeted in the first ep, and then Noboru thought it'd be fun to have Kuugen remain unsealed. There was a semblance of mystery at the end of this episode, but for now this has a monster-of-the-week feel while Kuu experiences the wonders of typical human life.

Episode 2:

So far I'm enjoying this but it's the bits after the credits that I like the most.

When I first saw male Kuu I just wanted my cute foxgirl back, but actually they could work in some good gags with her gender changing ablities. I liked this episode a little more than I did the first, although it still has a pretty generic feel to it. Kuu is clearly the best part of the show although I did like the father's bland reactions to all of the supernatural stuff.

So the gods have fallen on such hard times that they have to open their own stores to support themselves. I like that fight this week was just so the convenience store owner/god could wreck his shrine, rather than just the usual bland wanting to kill the brothers. Although I think they were hinting at a more overarching plot at the end of the episode so it would be nice if they could do something with that.

Also I laughed when Kou said she'd get the laundry done even if it cost her life. :)

Episode 3:

So far Kuu and Kou are really the only things I like about the show. Kou explaining what happened the dishes and what a guardian does were pretty funny. The rest of the show is bland and generic. This episode was just the same old school life cliches and the battle with the moles was pathetic. Sakura and the brothers are boring characters and don't do much to play off of Kuu's cute mischievous nature. A character like Kuu needs a strong supporting cast to show off how awesome she is.

I'm still enjoying the show but it could be much better.

Episode 3

Well, I'm disasspointed as well :3 I guess it's still early days but honestly this episode was a drop in quality. The moles sucked, I agree, as did most of the parts at school. Kou is once again hilarious, she may even be outshining Kuu for me, but at the same time... well, she's really retarded. But hey, shrine maidens lead sheltered lives I guess. I agree that Kuu needs a strong supporting cast, I figured she'd have more youkai friends popping up every now and then, but they all seem to be enemies. The brothers should be much better characters. Something feels missing, how can this show waste an awesome character like Kuu?

^ Yeah disappointed is a good way to put it. Kuu and Kou deserved a better anime that's for sure. It's like they knew they had created two great characters and decided to halfass the rest. Of course watching this next to Princess Tutu isn't helping.

Episode 4:

We get a lot of backround information in this episode. Unfortunately this makes clear that one of the more interesting character is dead. Outside of Kuu and Kou Miyako looked way more interesting that any of the characters so far. Once again the only really good moments in this episode come from Kou and Kuu. Kuu blushing in fox form was really cute. They made some shallow attempts to develop the characters in this episode but most of it was too cliche to be all that interesting. I'm starting to really dislike the brothers because they are worthless characters.

The battle this time was a little more interesting because we find out Kou has dragon's blood. Hopefully they will go into more detail about this and give her some kind of backstory.

The show seems pretty unfocused, it doesn't know what it wants to be. It seems to be trying to mix a little slice of life comedy with action but the two halves don't fit together very well and are left underdeveloped. It's still not a bad show, just really mediocre.
