Outlaw Star
(a.k.a. Seihou Bukyou Outlaw Star) Synopsis, screenshots, recommendations ~ Add Recommendations Discuss individual episodes and first impressions of this anime here; reviews and final impressions should be posted in the Anime Reviews Forum. Post format and full rules can be found here. __________________________________________ Episode 13: Im wondering wtf could have caused something like this. I recall Trigun's shop names. Stuff like "Restlant" for restaurant and other translation messes. Did you spot something funny in other animes too? Last edited by rockenroll4life; 10-01-2008 at 11:48 AM. |

I know this is reviving a seriously old thread so I'm sorry for the possibly unwanted bump, but I have a question:
Do you guys consider Outlaw Star to be a classic? I was talking with some dude a few nights ago and we got onto the subject of this. Personally, I don't. I think it was great, but I think that there are too many fillers for it to be a true classic - plus, it's sort of a poor man's Bebop. BUT that's IMO - I was wondering what y'all think?

Damn, ancient thread bump. I consider Outlaw Star somewhere between just plain awesome and classic. I haven't seen it in years, so i don't really remember it. Theme song is beyond kickass though.

Judging on the lack of comments I suppose you could make an argument for no.
But it has been seen by a large group of anime fans, and was a title that was broadcast on cable and during peak hours. So it does have some importance on being one of the torch bearing titles that ushered in a second wave of anime fans. I personally found it to be a good series that has aged a bit, but still rather solid. Simple, not complicated. The "fill" was just fun story, that makes you enjoy each character. I still think the episode where Aisha Clan clan was in the tournament was quite funny. An episode that served little purpose than to be good entertainment. It is actually older than Bebop, the Manga was written in the mid 90's, where Bebop first came out as an anime in 98. So my final thoughts; I would agree that as time goes by the significance of the title will diminish as well. And unless it gets one of those reboots, or movie sequels like Trigun, then it will slowly fade away. |
