Episode 2:

Another good episode. I agree that Keaton seems a bit over the top since the show focuses so heavily on realism, but it's not distracting. I guess that they mention RAF (as in the West German terrorist organisation) like it was still active places the show in the late 80's. Not surprising since it started serialisation in 1988, but the animation style makes me unconsciously think that it takes place in the mid-90's.

Also, I'm trying to add some characters to this show. Want to confirm them after I've added them?

^Yeah, that's cool. Although I'm wondering how many regular characters there are going to be other than Keaton. Unless you want to add the characters that are only in one or two episodes.

Episode 3:

Stupid Flora, one of the perks of being an adult is that you can eat whatever you want and force kids to eat it as well. Anyway, she managed to avoid coming off as a precocious brat for the most part. And that was one evil matriarch...

These three episodes has definitely showed promise and I really enjoy the mellow and relaxed (even though it deals with pretty heavy subjects) atmosphere of the show.

I was thinking of adding the major characters of each episode.

Actually, four countries.

Oh yeah because he started out in Britain before going to Greece in the first episode.

Yeah I'd agree the relaxed atmosphere is great. It's a very deliberate thing that doesn't feel lazy or forced. It's something that you can only get with these slow-paced shows and even then it only happens with the good ones.

Forgot about Britain actually, so it seems like it's five countries (he's in France to visit Flora's mother in episode three).

It reminds me a lot of Mushishi, actually. Which, now that I think about it, further supports your point since that was an awesome show as well.

Taichi Hiraga-Keaton is a bit of one of those characters beloved of anime (and pulp fiction generally) - a genius, who's gifted abilities will eventually enable him to escape or succeed in whatever puzzle the show's thrown at him this week. The strenght of the character's improbable multiple skills is the sheer variety of stories the show can just throw him into, archaeological digs and financial appraisals with a light case of fighting unpleasant overweight men in Europe (in true Monster fashion).

This is a damn good series overall, a trifle overlooked, but not something I'd call great.

re: adding chars, we try to add chars for basically any character that has a name, including super minor chars, so if you guys are watching through the series anyways, adding every char you see would be really appreciated :) means no one will submit them later on!

in regards to that i have a question - having a hard time marking the VA for 'flora belnine' vs 'mrs belnine' - on ANN the only 'flora' that lists a last name isnt belnine (and from ep 17 or something). there's also 'anna's mother', a 'flora', etc.

could you let me know which VAs should be set up?

and because i apparently like spamming, what's the deal with Taichi Keaton? we have the name as such, but ann says taichi hiraga keaton for jp, and 'taichi keaton-hiraga' for english @_@

I'll try to add every character that's named (some of them are only named in the credits, I've no idea who is who). As for Flora and Anna, I added the name Belnine since that was the father's/husband's. Maybe the last name should be edited out?

Anyway:

Flora Belnine - Ayumi Uno/Chantal Strand
Anna Belnine - Misa Watanabe/Can't find any credits either on ANN or the ED
