Eh, I started watching this, but then I stopped after thirty minutes because up to that point (and even beyond it looks), it's just a retelling of the series (first and second seasons). I assume it'll relay the events of Forte too, which could mean another thirty minutes of recapping with little changes aside from that new girl. I'll finish it eventually, but I dislike recaps....especially when they're going to be over an hour long.

Though I disliked that it recapped a whole lot of things it did act as characterization for the newly introduced character, overall it ended up being an all-right choice and the movie ended up being pretty enjoyable, even though the last minutes felt rather rushed and the extent of the recapping was a bit overbearing.

I feel the same way as Etue, but there were special things that stood out to me:
The opening sequence was fucking hilarious. I was left wondering what was up with that scene after the credits, it made me wonder if more is to come. And I hate Tomoki normally, but he was not as hate inducing to me in the film, and I actually empathized with him for once. -1 point for no major Tomoko. The recapping was really really long, but I forgave it as it was from Hiyori's viewpoint. But I should warn peeps who have not watched the series that the recap does not touch on any major plot points from either season rather it focuss on things Hiyori was there to witness so newbies to the series will not know anything about what's going on. I have to agree, there was much recap in the movie.
But like mentioned, I guess it was indeed needed to weave her story in the main story. Actually personally I didn't mind the recap that much; it has been quite a while when I watched the series... I also agree with Hoff, the opening was indeed hilarious. Unfortunately I also had the feeling it was a little bit rushed at the end... But overall, I enjoyed the movie. It seems that they waited till the movie came out on Blu-ray. Last edited by DeathlyForce; 03-17-2012 at 01:08 AM. Reason: discovered a writing error... -_- |

Was hoping for more original content when I started watching but it was a lot of recap for me having watched the series not that long ago so haven't forgotten it all. Hiyori was in the series anyway just as a minor character. I thought with the movie they would have gone with someone completely new. The 2nd half after the recap was better although

Ah, just finished... :(
Even though the first half was just a recap, I liked it. And the second half made up for it. This also revealed a lot of information about the general story that was untold before. The hint from Nymph will probably be emphasized more in a third season. I already knew what was going to happen in this movie because I read the manga, but it was still a good movie. And if they don't continue with a third season of the anime, I'll be quite disappointed. Really, though... Hiyori will always be remembered. |
