I just happened to notice this in the anirec database, being a big fan of the game (Though I still haven't beat as I am trying to find a decent fan rom for the first game or learn japanese to play the original) and plus when I did play it I lost my data, started over got really far and missed the last character and then started over again, ta da...

So is the show any good? It seems to follow the second game, (first english one)...

From memory I'd say that it was ok/good, the ending left more to be desired of. IT was an open ending, I haven't played the second game, so I don't know if the anime ending corresponds to the game ending.

The anime is loosly based of the first cd of Star Ocean: The Second Story.

They were originally going to make a sequel to EX, but for some reason that I am unaware of, the plans for the sequel got washed under. It was up as an upcoming series a few years back, but nothing has been heard of it since.

EX itself, I'd say is quite good. It's just that it has a very open ending, as pointed out above, since they were originally going to make a sequel.

The game has I think 60 or so possible endings...

80+ different couple endings. We're talking about EX not having a true general ending period.

Oh well, its star ocean, I'll get over it not having a true ending...

Edit: I was worried it will be like pokemon, the games (Version ones that is) are suprisingly entertaining, yes a guilty pleasure, but the show is crap...

I watched it about halfway after playing the game, then learned it was gonna end at the end of disc one, at which point I basically stopped (since disc two is where things get more interesting). It isn't bad, but nothing terribly special either. Pretty standard fantasy stuff, gets better if you played the game though obviously.

It ends at disc one? Well, I got past disc one, so I guess I can watch it...

kastrophee, once you watch it, pay close attnetion if possible to exactly how far in the game the anime goes (and/or if it's an exact following, or if there's differences, etc) ... (for example, i'd be curious to know if the anime follows the story from either the guy or girl's perspective, since in the game you get to choose).

then i can put up a more exact relations info thing.
