No,you fail to understand that the beach episode was needed before shit hits the fan again. It's like a calm before a storm.I wouldn't have liked it they would just be adding crazy plot twists every single episode.Plus it served as character development, not much but still a little bit.Deepening the bonds between the main group of characters, that will make it more emotional when someone dies.
Besides,we got to see the girls in their swimsuits, they at least showed their feminine side as others have said.Which is nice.

But apparently I need to do it again.

Listen, please, tell me what the point of that episode was. Yes, we got like 2 minutes of actually shit happening, but the rest of it was nothing but goddamn fluff. You want girls in bikinis? There's something called google for that, I'm sure you can uncover an almost infinite amount of videos and pictures with it.

You needed a beach episode to see the "feminine side"? What, then walking around in skirts the entire show doesn't show any femininity? Or better yet, couldn't they have actually included said sides in a manner which still fit in with the mood of the rest of the series? There's been pleeeeeenty of downtime in the so far to explore such things, and instead of wasting an entire episode on something that just reeks of bad writing and contrived fanservice.

As I said before, I like the series, I really do. I'm a fan of the mysterious death genre, and I've actually liked the pacing of the series so far. However, there's nothing more immersion breaking than this episode suddenly screaming "HERE'S SOME FANSERVICE FOR YOU!" in your face before finally, at the very end saying "well ooooook, I guess we should actually do something".

Anyone else surprised to find out the original Misaki was a boy? I kind of assumed it was a girl for some reason...

You really are screwed up of your head if you think femininity is merely the clothes a girl wears....

Think it like this, suddenly they relax the mood then suddenly another creepy-ass death, there is nothing wrong with it, except that you as an horror-lover perhaps want a death each 5 mins or something. Ain't happening pal. Besides that's how the novel goes as well the mood-relaxing episode had a purpose, demonstrate that the phenomenon can happen outside as well, and also give some terrifying thing to the fella who stopped it half-year on his period, which also will serve to one thing to the class "what the fuck do we do now".

You ain't friendly of development huh? You just want to rush everything up.........bleh

I agree, somehow when that was said, I just imagined a male version of Mei, in a black shirt and a red tie xD

Thought it was a girl as well. Wonder what relevance does it have.

Except that's not what this was. There's been plenty of calms before the storm in the series so far. The visits to the doll shop, the hanging out and talking with Misaki, so on and so forth, and oh my, what's this, all without the need to jump into bikini's and splash water on each other? Shocking!

Look, maybe if the beach scene wasn't a completely cliched fanservice object in oh, every series ever what you're saying would have some merit, but please, don't try to tell me that's not all this was.

I am. In fact, if you really want you can look through what I've said about other series I watch and see that I'm all about goddamn character development, but this was nothing but absolute horseshit. Don't try to feed it to me.

And, I say for the third time just so maybe you'll actually read it, this series has been all about setting up an atmosphere and pace with it's scenery, backgrounds, character interactions, and everything else you could throw in there that's involved in making a show. Episode 8 did nothing but break the immersion it's built up so far, to the point where even the oshit moment of the episode has been snoozed at by almost everyone who has posted here.
