IMO,

the anime started to go downhill when L died ): N was as mysterious and bizarre.. but nowhere as good as L.

Yep, I think most people would agree with you there Zephlynn, including myself.

I put Death Note in my top 5 (at position 2 no less!) after only seeing 4 episodes. Even after having seen it all, it still rates at number 2 overall on my list.

Yep. After two (only two) I knew this anime was destined for great things. I just wish the authors of this anime/manga would make another one/or one from the Death God's Perspectives, or better yet, just make a brand new anime with their same dark humor and twists, and with, I must add this being a big selling point for me - THE MUSIC. The background music, the suspense music, everything heightened the experience.

4.75/5 and it sits at #1 on my list until I find something better then it, I'm watching Monster atm and it looks pace to take it over if it continues. (For curious minds, i'm at episode 15).

It's one of the best anime I've ever seen. =D

The anime covers all of the manga so you only need to see/read one to figure out the whole story. If you haven't seen it already then you MUST see Death Note.

Lets not kid ourselves here. While the anime does cover majority of the manga, the anime also left out tons of important details that was in the manga. But then again, if you don't pay much attention to some of the things I pay attention to then it probably wouldn't matter to you as much. While I found reading Death Note to be an enjoyable experience, I have mixed feelings about the anime.

As I said, the anime left out quite a lot of details in the 2nd half of the series, and what was originally in my top 5 anime was dropped from the list completely because of the removed bits. If I hadn't read the manga, I would've had questions about certain situations Light was in. (Mainly parts involving Shidoh)

I guess if you're watching the anime, watch it completely before reading the manga because you may set yourself up for disappointment, or just stick with the manga only.

I've got the manga and I've seen the anime twice. I don't see really major things they didn't add. Only little unimportant things.

I still wonder what it would have been like if Light managed to kill Near. Near was annoying. L was the best character in the anime/manga and still is.

If Light won, he would be the lord of the world. No one would oppose him anymore. Near just won due Mello's kidnapping of Takada.
