I would say that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is basically just a game so no need to freak out since same thing can be repeated indefinitely until done right.
but of course all character expressions are done quite well. |

You think the first arc was disturbing? Wait till you see the scene where that picture is from...
Great series. The second season was disappointing, but then again I knew it would be before I even watched it. Advice, stick with the first season. The only reason to watch the second season is if you really MUST know what the hell is going on. |

Mm, I just started watching this. Can anyone tell me where the special fits in all of this? Does it come after the first season, before the first season, or after the second season? Or somewhere in between?

Just finished the second and third arcs, and the series has quickly grown to be pretty awesome.
I feel this picture sums up my feelings so far pretty well: At first it was pretty weird, but now I'm eagerly awaiting the next vicious killing. |

Go play Higurashi Daybreak for half of the new season's story. It's an unbelievably fun game. And a helluva lot better than sitting through the visual novels.
Or as Gallarn noted, read the manga. I didn't list the manga chapters per se, just the total chapters in the . . . "universe." Higurashi chapters |
