Using fully update IE8 (8.0.7601.17514)
Had compatability mode on to fix the search bar alignment at the top, but it looks like turning it off does fix the broken heart icon issue.

I'll just live without the top search bar I guess.

...or you could upgrade to IE9, downgrade to IE7, or switch to a diff browser altogether.

This crap with difference browsers needing different code goes on for years now, mostly because of Microsoft. For any site coder though it doesn't matter whose fault it is, it just adds extra (and unnecessary theoretically) work.

The new system is a big improvement over the old one, especially when you "hate" frequently. The old system tended to be a little laggy (at least in firefox), which made having to click twice a p[roblem. You could never be sure if the click didn't go through or if it was just lagging. As a result you could find yourself going in circles, or wind up haing someone mistakenly marked as "loved". The larger size of the heart icons also makes it easier to tell at a glance whether it's a love or a hate symbol (plus the fact that a given symbol always appears in a given location, allowing you to know just by location).

yeah, the main reason too is that people often didnt know the hate button existed at all - we're hoping with this new button system is totally clear
