Have (or want to make) a site club? Set up events, get special badges!

A week ago, we launched badges. Some you earn by doing things on the site (like adding reviews), some you earn by watching certain anime. Others you earn from your time you've spent on the site, etc.

There are other badges that not everyone can earn - for example, staff-based badges, beta tester badges and more.

I wanted to announce that we're open and willing to create special badges for clubs or groups who want to lead community-based efforts on the site. For example, the Monthly Marathon Club winner will receive a special MM badge (and the moderators of the club will receive a club moderator badge), because the club is something that's great for community participation/spirit, and also helps the community out by rewarding for content (recommendations, reviews) which then help everyone else out who uses the site. :)

So, do you have a club on the site? Or, have an idea for one? Post about it in club chat and get people to join your cause (or if you just want to browse and join clubs, do that too!).

If your club has ideas on how you can help build community spirit and encourage site participation that will help everyone (such as *well thought out* recommendations and reviews, contests, challenges, welcome committees, anything!), you can come up with a proposal and post about it in your club thread - feel free to link to the proposal or discuss ideas here, as well. I'm open to giving badges to club leaders ('moderator' badges of sorts), that run these sorts of community building campaigns. I'm open to ideas and guidelines!

Due to the fact that we don't have an endless deep pocket for development (or badge creation), we'll choose clubs that are unique, have dedicated volunteers to run the process, and have high value to the community, so be creative! ^_^

We would love to give out badges for SOTW, if its possible.

As far as contributions, Right now it's producing almost all of the new AP template signatures for public use.

i pondered SOTW, but theres a few things about it that would need to be figured out:

-currently only some of the backgrounds are usable for the official (ie, through the sig tool) sigs, as a lot are the wrong size. im surprised by this as i had thought the reason behind the contest was to provide backgrounds for the site sigs (but as is only a few can be used). ill follow up with you and moonfail on this.

-the sig contest is weekly - that's not only a lot of badges to make on a regular basis, but also would be a huge amount of badges in the system (52 a year). the contests im thinking of would more of a spread out thing - for example, something that happens monthly.

ill update the first post to be more specific - the goal of this is not 'if you have a club everyone gets a badge', it's specifically if you have a club and have things you can do, specifically, to help the community or site :D such as being a welcome new members club, or a club that sponsors contests that promote site content (with prizes and/or a way of verifying stuff gets done), etc
