I'm very pleased to unveil personal user reviews. These are in place for both anime and manga. They've been beta tested briefly (thanks Anarchicq, Sheex and letsbuildafire!) but please let me know if you run into any problems.
You can now: -add your own anime or manga reviews via the 'reviews and discussion' tab in anime/manga entries -view your reviews in a tab in your profile (including sorting options) -leave comments in your or others' reviews -view all community reviews in the 'reviews and discussion' tab in the anime/manga entries -view how much of the anime or manga the writer saw/read when reading their review - this way you can avoid reviews where someone reviewed after dropping 1 of 50 episodes, for example -view recent user anime/manga reviews on the users and reviews homepage -browse all user reviews added ever (click the 'see all' links in the 'recent user reviews' sections on the users/reviews homepages) -share your reviews or others' reviews via social networking channels (id appreciate if people could test this with a review of yours and let me know if it works correctly) -reviews are like blogs - you can put in images, videos, etc -NO SPOILERS IN REVIEWS PLEASE until we have a spoiler tag functionality There are a few remaining issues that will be fixed in the next few days, such as the entry tab looking not super great and there needs to be a 'newest reviews' section on the front page of the profiles. I put up a few of my blog review impressions to get the ball rolling - as a note I didn't address some of the scores as I didn't update the blog post when pasting, but you should call out each score in each review you write. Please enjoy! This feature took a long time to build and I hope you like it. If you have old blogs that you tagged with the anime name (and it was your FINAL review - not an episode review, but a review of everything of the anime/manga that you wanted to see/read), please delete your blog and repost it as a user review. :) If you see people with reviews in blogs please point them to this thread ^_^

NOTE: as with any big feature change, please make sure you do a hard refresh in your browser on pages that look messed up, as the css caches!

additional to-dos for tomorrow:
-change it so 'reviews and discussion' is the first tab for manga -fix tabs so they properly highlight when selected

Came out very nicely, big thanks to sothis and all the testers! (and sorry for losing to sleep >.<) A couple questions - are these supposed to be big full-length sorts of reviews, or more of a 1-2 paragraph mini-review sort of thing? Also, is it possible to not use the component scores if we don't want to? (like, if someone wants to use a different set of components, or just feels they're restricting or something)
Also, someday down the road, do you think it'd be feasible to get the number of eps a review is based on added to the list of links on the anime's page? (or even just a little color box to indicate watched/dropped/etc.) For now it doesn't really matter much, but once this is in full swing I could see people going through a list of 20+ user reviews for a series only to find that half the ones they go to were only based on a couple eps. Could be frustrating.

Secondly: No. I just tried. I'd LOVE to be able to not score the components. I'm inclined to use this feature for anime that I can't wrap my head around properly, and would likely leave the character or story sections unscored. I know enough about databases to hold my tongue about setting your own "out of" score, but can we get an official insertion for N/A or Unscored (UNS)?

edit: random request that may or may not be easily feasible - friend functionality (i.e. it posts an update when a friend adds a user review)
