Interested in writing a column/news stories for AP?

This post is primarily to gauge interest in an article/news system on Anime-Planet.

We have the backbones of an article system built and for awhile have been considering posting our own artiles and news updates. We wouldn't be looking to replace ANN's press releases; instead, we'd have our own columns, features and news discussions.

I'm open to discussion on what the columns would be; mostly I just want to see if anyone out there is interested in participating. Some ideas I have are a weekly column where a writer recaps that week's anime/manga news, and gives their own opinions on it; any sort of genre column; a rarities column; a 'learn Japanese' column; or a number of other ideas.

You wouldn't need to have the level of writing skills required to be a site reviewer, but you'd need to have a casual, semi professional (ie, words are spelled correctly and there's decent flow) manner - sarcasm and humor would be highly welcome, as well. ^_^

So for starters, if this sort of thing would interest you (and you'd be able to give consistent time to work on the columns - for example twice a month, once a month or once a week, depending on the column), feel free to respond. If there's enough interest at the moment I'll think through this a bit further. ^_^

Sounds like an awesome idea. But I don't know how much I could contribute to it. I'm a decent writer I believe, but I am very outdated with anime and manga news and stuff. But if there's something you see that seems to fit my character, just give me a call and I'll think about it =P

for everyone responding, let me know what sorts of things you'd enjoy writing about too (if you know of anything), as i'd want to have an editorial calendar of sorts put together before id know how to design the section. rough ideas are fine - we'd just need columns with set topics and all (japanese culture? [something or other] in anime? etc). columns would need to have longevity - ie making a topic about horror death scenes in comedy anime wouldnt work cause you'd run out of material after awhile ;)

as far as the anime news column, i'd imagine the type of person/people who would do that one are people who actively stay up to date on news. of course we could have our own editorial comments on news stories as they come out, but also having the weekly 'wrap up' would be good too. i'm definitely not someone who keeps up to date but i know some of you out there are :)

also needed would be an editoral moderator who could help run the schedule, get in touch with the writers, etc ^_^

I would write primarily about current anime/manga news- Eg: announced adaptions, cancelations, studio mergers, etc.

If allowed, I would also enjoy writing opinion pieces.

lemur: what sorts of opinion pieces? any subjects in particular that tend to interest you? (ie, is there a central column topic idea you'd label it under?)

Okay, because that might be a position I can fill. If you think I'm trustworthy enough and am here enough. I'm usually the one making sure the work is done if I'm working with a group of people =P
