random idea: If there's a buddy group watching a less-known anime, after they finish they could compile their various takes on it into an article. Like, a paragraph or so for each person, or perhaps a "conversation" format. Might be a nice way to spotlight some non-popular shows without it being basically a standard review.
Otherwise, I like the idea of doing a new season preview sort of deal, provided we get 4-5 different takes on them like ANN does. I'll tentatively express interest in participating, though my school's bandwidth equalizer may prove too powerful a foe -.-' A regular Q&A might be tough... wouldn't it require the person taking questions to have a wide breadth of familiarity with everything anime-related? Perhaps it would be better to rotate people? Like, one time Vivi/viva/sheex/mariprosa could be there and answer questions that might be more aligned towards reviews, another time we could have a resident manga expert, etc. This would also allow for oddball columns like, say "ask a newbie," where we find a willing member who's relatively new to anime to share their thoughts on various things from a perhaps less-jaded/hardcore point of view.

What about a column about different trends or areas in anime fandom? AMVs, Fanart, Fan fiction, archives, drama and so forth? I'd be willing to do one, since I spend a lot of time in the wacky world of fan-activities, and founded a few fic archives. I'm by no means an expert (Fan-academic. I shit you not.), but I know what's going on most of the time. And admit it, you'd love to see an article about Otakukin!
What about a cosplay column? Don't look at me, I hate cosplay, but it is very popular and people would probably come to the site through various columns about discount cosplay stores, methods of making a costume, tips on closet cosplay, How to put on a good skit, who-to-stay-the-fuck-away-from (I'm not naming any names Usagi Kou....) and more stuff like that.

If anything I would love to see an occasional ode to older more rare shows that are either making a come-back or for an adventuresome connoisseur. Something on titles that fly under the radar... ..make that, ones that hit mountains in a small plane for flying so low. If such a title is suddenly resurfacing on DVD, let's say Five Star Stories, it would be nice to have a "You Missed This" article, or "Here is your chance" article. Now obviously there is reviews for 'hidden' goods, and that might be an inspiration for this. However, it would only deal with mainstream re-release of a title that is old on a format that might be seen in a store or for a online purchase. I just read that Your Under Arrest 2 is coming out. I am a fan of the title and have been wanting to see it come out on DVD for some time. (yeah I am a bit old school on some of my titles) Anyhow, if this is even remotely interesting I would be happy to write about it with CMC or just fill in for him if and when he might be bumped off by a guy who lives in Washington... =O |

I'm up for this too! So I can give a hand, though atm I'm practicing for my final exams, but I don't think it's a problem since this is not a daily task.
I can write about almost anything, but japanese culture and thermology I like the most. First impressions of series, info of seiyuus and even a column I could also think of, and I'm open for other ideas as well! |

I could possibly write a Japanese (language) column since I'm taking it at uni.
And I could also do something for conventions or cosplay. |

I just saw The Slayers at Best Buy for $55 or so. That was all three "seasons" of the show at that. Add in the fact it's the remastered stuff, that's one hell of a hard deal to beat. That could be a great article. |

As far as I can tell, one of the things that makes people come back to articles is a sense of familiarity with the writers, so the above format might work better in that regard. Similarly, the thing I mentioned with doing a Q&A column where the answerer changes would probably be better off in an "interview" format. Having the same interviewer asking the questions and perhaps adding commentary would help tie such a series together. edit: additional random idea: A series of articles focusing on music/soundtracks/composers?

Are people going to be allowed to get news from the net or will they have to have a magazine/some other direct means? Might be nice if you separate articles by genre, as many anime blogs do it and that seems to work well, soundtracks would be nice too. Japanese dishes would again be a nice addition. I'm pretty sure this little project is going to drive traffic home (money too). xD
