Zakiel's linked to the posts a few times as well... You have rep power(Amount of rep you give when giving positive rep) for a couple factors. 1 rep power for having more than 50 posts. 1 rep power per year you have been registered on the forum 1 rep power per increment of 50,000 posts When giving negative rep the amount of neg rep you give is equal to half of your rep power rounded down. If you have 4 rep power you give -2 rep, if you have 3 rep power you give -1. If you have 1 rep power you give -1. If you have negative reputation you cannot give negative rep. |

It's all good and well to know how the feature works and all.. But what I wonder is WHAT are we supposed to rep people for? Positive rep for those whose name we recognize as senior members? And neg rep for everything that annoys us? Because that's how ppl seem to rep right now.

You rep users posts for how useful they've been for you. If A wrote something to help or amused you, you can give A positive rep, if the post wasnt helpful, sheer silly, out of context, trolling you can give negative rep points. And that to anyone, there is no rule to rep postive half senior members. But its always good to add a reason why a contribution have been useful or not.
