That way the show stays in the database and no one's life spent on anime bar will fluctuate.
Well your half right, Megazone 23 was chopped up in the 80's and released very limited as, The Robotech Movie. --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotech:_The_Movie it also combined shots from Southern Cross. It was a failure and hardly seen. But as you said Mega23 sorta had some ties to Robotech.

As for Robotech the Shadow Chronicles, it seriously has very limited ties to Japanese animation. It was American written and directed, and the art was done in Korea.

It was movie length, and released at some locations in a movie form however. But Chronicles was not actually called Robotech The Movie.

K i just couldn't read this all wthout bringing up DBZ (I'm gonna get shot for this i just know it) But the U.S. airing of dbz had SERIOUS episode cuts to the point of outright altering the series legnth quite drastically. So I would put it in a similar boat to Robotech also avatar is what I'd term pseudo Anime as is transformers i/e the story plot and other works are from the U.S. BUT the bulk of work art wise at least was done in Korea i think which from what I know alot of Japanese companies do that as well today just look at Rideback coloring at least is Korean. NowIi don't put my avatar dvd's in my anime shelf (not just because I lack room) but because I don't really count it as anime but alot do (then again alot of people are idiots as well so meh). But my point is that alot of shows are altered pr butchered and we should cunt the if only for completions sake.

I saw both versions of DragonballZ maybe it is just me, but did all the cuts, out of order episodes, and soundtrack change actually alter the plot of DragonballZ?

Did Dragon Ball Z try to merge multiple anime's into one story?
Maybe if somehow DBZ was merged with two other shows like a Naruto and One Piece I could go with you on this part, but it didn't.

How few names were changed in DBZ compared to Robotech? I believe 80% of the names were changed in Robotech. Only a handful in DBZ.

I am not saying your assessment is wrong, I mean I do see a soundtrack of music that was changed for DBZ, and your right, some of the edits are down right rewrites of episodes... but, for the most part, it kept the general story.

LOL, The rewrites for Super Dimensional Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mosepeada are almost criminal. =)

LOL no kidding the rewrites for robotech were insane and thensome. But what i was mainly reffering to with dbz was that they changed the numerical value of episodes thus making it kinda hard for those who don't know to give an accurate assesment of how much they've seen i'm looking at the counting factor for time as well as the changes. Though i gotta say i do love the lines when goku and gohan come back from chi chi but this isn't the place for that. But yeah compared to robotech the changes were nil but they did alter the time for the series more than robotech did. So i guess my point was that their are many cases for many reasons to change things. Whether it be series legnth or different content their both forms of modifications that can quite radically alter either the viewing experience or ability to calculate said series.

Ah ha!
So that is probably why I was off in my count of DBZ episodes then. =)

i personally believe that in the case of non japanese animation it really should be about the quality of the animation.

that should be the priority.

the best thing about this is site will always be the recomendations and introducing different things to other people

if you were to be totally purist then why add advent children or any cgi etc?

if a few people have messaged asking nicely then it should be considered

fair enough don't label it as anime but let people have the chance to recommend some alternatives

i probably wont suggest anything myself i am content with the site as is.

well i love it but if someone introduced me to something like watership down i would be very gratefull and that isn't anime

doesn't go to say i would want to see general cartoon series added but there will always be a grey area

if the series is something without any substance or general plot, it is a childhood memory then it really doesn't count
