Uh... The feedburner links are in the ###.html format. This is a function of the feedburner site and/or the feed itself, not any specific browser.
http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/feedburner-bug.png edit: Upon looking at the xml file itself, feedburner is apparently reading the guid element as the link. Another, more important question, is why the feed even includes those ###.html links in the first place, when they don't work?? This one for example: http://www.anime-planet.com/manga/367.html Also, why does the main link for the manga updates rss point to the anime section?? Quote:
edit2: The one browser on my system that I can get to use feeds natively (I never use feeds) is orca (a custom frontend, with ffv3 as a backend). It displays the correct link when using the xml file directly, but still gets the ###.html one from the feedburner page. Look at the address in the status bar (bottom left) in these 2 pics: http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/orca-feedburner.png http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/orca-xml.png Bottomline: The solution is pretty simple. Rip out the absolutely useless, pointless, nonfunctional ###.html links in the guid element & replace them with a copy of the real link from the "link" element. Then it won't matter which element the feed reader uses. Since the ###.html link serve no purpose anyway, yanking them out won't hurt anything.

(just copying what we talked on irc)
We're talking here about two bugs. #1 feedburner fetches the guid and overrides the link with it #2 some browser (versions) seem to use the guid instead the link. (the specification says: "There are no rules for the syntax of a guid ... If the guid element has an attribute named isPermaLink with a value of true, the reader may assume that it is a permalink to the item, that is, a url that can be opened in a Web browser, that points to the full item described by the <item> element." -- RSS 2.0 Specification (RSS 2.0 at Harvard Law)) |
