Hello,
Do you read tons of scanlations? Interested in helping keep AP's chapter counts up to date? I have an easy admin tool that will allow you to do it, with fields for both chapters and volumes. I need several (preferably at least 4) people who read a large amount of manga or are willing to scan various sites to see what chapters have been released, to help out. ^_^ You can coordinate with the other updaters as needed in case you want to switch off days or do some other plan, it's up to you. If you're interested, respond with a bit about why you'd qualify for the job :) Updaters would be identified as staff when v3 comes out ^^

Hey Sothis, I am keen on this position.
I had been increasingly less interested in watching anime, due to the hassle of downloading/streaming (too poor to even pay my phone bills) and have become somewhat picky in what I watch, so I haven't been watching. Also for the part that I have other things to do than to sit down for 6 hours and watch anime back to back like I used to do in high-school. However I've become very interesting in manga all of the sudden. I believe it was because of my wanting-ness to find a resolution between K1 and Belldandy's relationship in the Ah my goddess Universe, so I painstakingly downloaded all 241 translated chapters (246 chapters currently) to see if K1 even his first base. I still believe his a virgin. This goes for the same for Claymore, Gunslinger Girl, Moon Phase and Black Lagoon. The Tv series has left me wanting for more.
That being said, I am keen to read more manga. Manga to me is more easier to obtain and as most geeks, I spend alot of time on the internet so searching through other forums such as baka-updates isn't a problem. Last edited by shortlex; 01-12-2009 at 11:07 PM. |

Well since I have dial up I can't really watch anime, instead I read manga. That being said I'm always watching out for releases of the mangas I'm reading. I've gone as far as joining a scanlator's fourm that offers their manga chapter scanlations to members one week before it get's released to the public. What can I say, gotta have my manga fix.
Currently Reading:
When I'm not reading manga I'm looking for new manga to add to my list of want to read. Since I spend most of my time at these sites anyways, I wouldn't mind helping out. Last edited by SuriZen; 01-13-2009 at 09:21 PM. |

Here's the funny thing, I can't stand reading manga online, I have to have the actual book in my hand otherwise I just get bored. Saying that however, I actually believe I'd be very good at this!
Even though I don't like reading Manga online being a teenager with lots of free time and nearly 24/7 internet access I can practically find out anything I want on the internet, plus being a big Anime/Manga dork means I don't have any social life. Only problem I can thing of is that there might be a bit of a problem communicating, as I am in England so there may be problems due to timezones. As a quick test I thought it would be fun to select 5 random Manga and see if I could get chapters for them, I think these are right, I checked them with two or more sources where I could. Negima: 237 Gunslinger Girl: 59 Alichino: 17 Vitamin: 3 Good Morning Call: 56 As I said, I'm fairly sure that those are the right ones but if I'm wrong with any of them please tell me! |

I'd be willing to do this, once I have a steady connection to the internet again. I already am obsessive about checking for new chapters of manga, read a ton online, even work for a scan group! I use onemanga, mangafox, and baka-updates regularly, so I'm fairly certain I'll catch new stuff

I read a bit of scanlated manga, but mostly only follow 2 or 3 scanlation groups (namely Musashi Quality and SaHa).
I can keep tabs on new releases for: AiKora (Love&Collage) Hayate the Combat Butler Rabuyan Toradora! Sketchbook Kodomo no Jikan and maybe a few others if I find some that I like.

It was more saying that I don't wait for OneManga or MangaTraders to get it so I can read it.

I've realized that as a grad student, I don't have time to do this. :(
However, I do recommend this site: Daily Manga :: Top - Moteur de recherche for staying up to date on manga releases. Sure, it's when the scanlations come out, but people often don't know when something has come out until it's scanlated. The site's in French, but since that's a romance language, it's pretty similar to English. Also, unlike the online manga sites, it doesn't host them or anything, just crawls around looking for releases, so it's much more "instantaneous" than OneManga or whatever. |
