Default Please help! How should we deal with DVD specials and OVAs?

Currently we have no consistent method of posting things like DVD specials (for example, the Geass picture books), or unreleased episodes released on a DVD (like ep 24 of Clannad). None of the other major anime sites follow this consistently either; anidb tends to never make separate entries for anything released on a DVD along with a TV series, and ANN is wildly inconsistent, sometimes posting new entries and sometimes adding extra episode counts in the main entry.

I posted a thread awhile ago with a proposal for how to deal with this, but it didn't receive much response. Hopefully now more people are around to give opinions... please read and respond in this thread!

I would say that, even thought it might cause an hour or so discrepancy in certain peoples "time spent on anime" list, it would be best to put it in the episode count. So Instead of the Love Hina entry and a separate Spring Special entry, it would be:

Love Hina
TV (25 eps + 3 Specials)

I would think OVA's should get their own entry, though.

qtf - if someone watched whole series they usually hunted down and watched specials too so there shouldn't be a huge problem with time spent on anime.

guys, as mentioned please respond in the linked thread, not here. here does not list the proposal of how to deal with these.

i'll lock the thread so there's no more ambiguity.
