coax, it's the way you said it that made me angry. you asked if you could use the old site, and then when i said no, you said "that's bad :/" with a bad smiley.

the old site wasn't any less complex than this one - if anything, the current site has FAR better usability. doesn't look 100% awesome yet, but it's much easier to read, has FAR less javascript, etc.

not sure what else to say here, but there's no way we are designing a javascript free site... in the 90s maybe, but nowadays i can't think of many (if any) sites that don't have even a bit of javascript. if we had a big team of developers and a ton of money maybe we could make a completely new version of the site for the 2% of users who don't want JS, but at this point that is completely and totally not possible.

i just spent four weeks of my life, several anxiety attacks, and a lot of time and money to get the alpha up. and the first thing you say is "uh, can we have the old version back please?"

i understand not everyone is going to be happy, but there's a time and a place for encompassing criticisms like that. and it's not now.

*sigh*. It seems there are many who do not really understand the meaning of "Alpha version". Yes it is missing a lot of features, let alone having new ones. But that is a known issue and until Sothis says that those features are ready for use, all we can do is wait. Just be glad we have the rec database back.

I think there was some misunderstanding... I just sayd what i was thinking at that moment, i'm always trying to do so, i think it's easyer to understand ppl if they always saying what are they thinking... but sometimes it's a problem if you're talking to ppl who's not used to that(currently most ppl)... If everyone was saying what are they realy thinking it would be much easyer to understand other ppl and would help with some stuff... Like when you're making something and asking your friend about what they think about it, and if it doesn't look good for them they could still say something like "it looks ok" or even "it looks cool" being afraid to hurt your feelings if they tell you the truth, this can cause you some problems becouse you may start thinking thing you made was good and you need to make more stuff like that, and show that to more ppl, and... well.. this will be bad... but if they tell you the truth and you don't get pissed becouse of that you can try to understand what was wrong and next time it will be better than before...(oh... well.. sorry for my bad english again)

Ye, i know, and i'm not saying you need to make anime-planet javascript free, i was just talking about perfect "lightweight"(i think word "minimalistic" will fit better) site... i just always wanted to make something like that... i was going to start working on it about 6 months ago, but, still haven't made anything... and i forgot most stuff about html and css for last few years...

P.S. And i understand what is "alpha version".

I don't see how the site could be made any more minimalistic without affecting the quality/usability of the site. It's very well organized and layed out as it is.

If you like things as plain & simple as imaginable, and even the little smilies in a forum piss you off, quit bugging people to change their website just to suit your tastes, and get yourself a nice little text-only browser such as lynx: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser) No graphic smilies, no gradients, no shadows, no javascript, no flash, just plain old text. It oughta be a wet dream for you.


Alternatively, learn to use the custom CSS/stylesheet functions built into nearly all modern browsers. You can make every site on the web look exactly the way you want, without pissing off the people who have worked hard to create those sites.

Another thing I'm TOTALLY loving is the 'more reviews' part at the bottom of reviews. Makes it real easy to just get lost in reading reviews on the site. Brilliant.
