Good work Cetonis!

But.... Holo again... really?
Kara no Kyoukai losing the Best Movie battle hurts me the most though. =(

As AirCommodore said, not much unexpected. I'm happily surprised that Kemono no Souja Erin made it as best music, seeing the show has a Watched count in the low 200s.

Also a little surprised about Kara no Kyoukai not being first at "Best Movie". Though I can see Summer Wars appealing to almost everyone, where KnK's audience is a little smaller.

And only the most hardcore fans out there have most likely seen the 3 movies that aired in 2009, which probably makes the audience even smaller.

I'd say no huge surprises, just a few smaller ones that were within expectations. Partially surprised K-On! didn't get anything else considering it has such a large fan base.

Also, Kara no Kyoukai had that god awful sixth movie. I love the fifth movie and like the seventh, but the sixth is just so terrible.

Barely anything I voted in first won, but I'm not too grumpy about the awards. At least Basquash didn't win Best Mecha. I probably would have been found dangling from a rope if that were the case. Pleasantly surprised to see Kanbaru in the running for Best Supporting Female. She is my personal favorite of the Bakemonogatari girls.

Speaking of, though, probably the only award I have a huge beef with is Bakemonogatari winning Best Animation, which is absurd. Great looking visually, but man, it has SO many animation shortcuts, like most everything SHAFT does (not that I'm knocking 'em too much; I enjoy SHAFT's style). How could any series with an episode like "Nadeko Snake, Part Two" possibly win Best Animation? Canaan may not be a better series than Bakemonogatari, but it has better animation by far (as does Darker than Black, which I voted for).

Some interesting winners there!

Have to agree with Shinmaru about Bakemonogatari and Best Animation......its striking and quintessentially Shinbo/SHAFT, but clearly ran out of budget and took a ton of shortcuts.

Aoi Bungaku was my top pick for animation, it was stunning.

I think the issue was there was no topic for art. Art style Bakemonogatari was a feast. Easily the best looking anime of the year if you just took a random screenshot. I agree with you about "animation" however. (i think i voted for DtB and Caanan as well, to win over Bake)

If there was a separate category for art i wouldn't have voted for bakemonogatari for animation.

The only vote that bugs me is best female character. it bugs me for two reasons. 1) Horo won last year. 2) there were atleast 3 possibly as many as 5 female characters who was far stronger then Horo either year.

It was a shame none of those characters won that category (though they did place as runners up), but it seems that just because Horo gets naked and none of the others do, it was an easy victory for the wolf. (don't get me wrong. I like Horo as a character. I think she's a great character. But she wasn't close to the best female character of this season)

Panel winners added ^_^ A little more than half of them were the same as the community winners, though I don't know if that's necessarily a "bad" thing. (or a "good" thing for that matter) Bonus votes are at the bottom there as well.

Since it was edited out in the process, I'll restate that if anyone has a better 300x300 pic they'd rather I use for a particular anime, please pm it over to me. Also, somebody let me know if that panel supporting male pic is actually a spoiler or not -.-'

As with last year, I'll post some of the actual point totals for the community vote in a little bit. Being that there were only 8-12 people for them, the panel votes were usually tight by nature, so I didn't bother posting panel runners-up or anything. Typically it was the same group of suspects as the community vote, with a sometimes-different winner of course. But the community tallies I will have counts for. There were a couple of ties, which is apt to bother some people on the side of the more-watched anime in each case, but that's how it was decided so it can't be helped. If someone has a better tiebreaker idea for next year, do say so.

The panel vote results fixed most of the problems i had with the community vote. good panel!

-btw: I found i agreed with the results from this year far more then the results from last year (in either vote)... other then Horo winning best fem in the community vote, not a single result really bugged me. I liked pretty much everything that won, or at least saw how they could win... well except for Soul Eater (which i found unbearable) and perhaps Eden of the East, which i felt was massively overrated (it was a good series... it was by no stretch of the imagination a great series)

Not too many surprises, but at least my fear that Clanadd AS would wipe the board was wrong :)

And Cetonis, yes the image for Grell is a spoiler. :)

I was worried Ristorante Paradiso wouldn't get any awards :p At least it got one.

**** YEAH!!! Panel votes make me WAY happy

Best Fantasy Kemono no Souja Erin!! Best Slice-of-Life Ristorante Paradiso!!

Awesome Female Lead and Villain! Same with Best Movie! Overall anime!!! SWEET

The panel votes are way more awesome than the actual results with everyone else.

only complaint from the panel was the ecchi was the same >.< stupid ****** kampfer

It was a pretty good vote. I'm glad Bake won some awards, even though Horo took the big award again. Nothing that particularly bothers me, just an observation: Xamd did really good in almost all categories for which it was eligible. Kinda sad it didn't win a single one, that feeling will probably be stronger once I actually watch the series, haha

I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong. Xam'ed was a good series... but i walked away from it with a sour taste in my mouth. It was one of those series that really could have benefited from better direction, as you can see some amazing material, and story... there was a lot to work with to make it truely epic. Unfortunately it always seemed to fall just short. the emotional scenes lacked punch. the plot was too disjointed and unfocused for most of the anime.. the ending was rushed, finally they wimped out at the very end (if they just stopped 2 minutes before the end it would have had a great ending which would have saved the anime from a lot of the problems)

in the end, it was like watching a great batter get the pitch he's looking for and swing for the fences only to hit a pop fly back to the pitcher.
