Those of you who have typed in animeplanet.com in the past and ended up on a porn site or parked domain page instead, rejoice! I've finally been able to purchase the domain, and as of today it is safe and sound and redirecting to anime-planet.com.

This is awesome news for the site! Being able to buy the domain was unexpected and, while expensive, was needed.

While kickass, I also have a humble request - if you were ever considering donating to the site, please consider doing it now. I've had a stockpile of funds from ad revenue for the last few months, which we've been using towards two very big, very secret features (one will launch in about 2 weeks and is being beta tested - those folks can attest to how awesome it is). I had enough to cover both of these features because I really wanted to avoid a donation drive, but then the opportunity came up to purchase animeplanet.com. And those of you who have been around for the 10 years the site has existed, know that this is an opportunity that needed to be taken for the benefit of everyone on the site. :)

Thus, the amount I had to complete the features is halved. I wanted to avoid a donation drive for these features, but given the circumstances, so you can make sure you get the benefit of both features (which I wish i could tell you about!!) please click the link below, and thank you :)

Donate to finish two mega awesome upcoming features!

I'm one of the lucky beta testers and trust me, it's an awesome feature.
Donated what was left on my paypal. I tried to use some pre-paid credit cards but they didn't work :(

Holy poop that's awesome news! A-P always deserved this URL and now it has come to be.
I might be able to donate something.

Awesome! That means I can now use the acronym AP without it being technically wrong! ^^

How much in donations do you need, total?

Awesome Awesome! Now if we can only get all the Animal Planet links to redirect here, we'll be in business :P

So, animeplanet.com used to be a porn site.... does that mean hentai-planet could soon be a sister site?

:D

Awesome news though, will donate a little towards the cause :)

hentai-planet plz

I haven't been posting much lately, but I will donate because I <3 anime-planet (and animeplanet.com)

more than people would want to donate - the cost of the domain was in the thousands (plural). we can definitely launch the first of the two features with what's left, just the scale of what comes out (it's hard to explain till you all see what the feature is) might be smaller than it could have been.

i figured instead i'd just mention that if anyone has been pondering donating, this is definitely a good time to do it. :) my goal is that AP would never need donation drives, this was just a crazy opportunity that came up and that changed plans for what was stockpiled...

many thanks everyone!

Well, I'll definitely pick up a prepaid credit card and donate later this week (I really dont trust paypal. xD). Good luck with the new feature!

I have on several occasions thought about donating, and now when I've got my salary would be perfect. Though from what I can see how paypal works.. With my bank set up I would be unable to due to some restrictions... I'm not allowed to buy stuff via my card online, I can only do it via something called "Direct bank", which is only available in Sweden. Stupid Youth Deal..

sweet i remember accidentally hitting that site and going wtf...unfortunately i cant find me a job and therefore have no money or i would definitely donate T_T

Ohh, I'm curious as for what these new features will be. I'll be donating again, which will take around 1 week assuming PayPal won't screw up like they usually do.

Well, thanks to you sothis. Always improving this lovely site. I don't have a job but the ptc sites brings me some cash. I made a humble but heartful donation.
