Samurai Flamenco

Just started the episode with a superhero showing him man bits to Gintoki. Good start.

The OP is okay but I think his suit looks stupid there. Guess I'll have to judge from the rest of the episode, but my anime waifu had to run out so I'll watch the rest when she gets back. I like the animation and it seems to have a loose fun style. Hopefully it'll be more fabulous.

This episode was a bit sluggish and I felt the pacing dragged a bit. There was some funny dialogue, but the show isn't exactly what I was expecting. It's an interesting idea, a super hero in the real world, but it's also a concept that's been done to death. I suppose it's good they're putting a Japanese spin on it and I appreciate they took a comedic tone with it, but over all I can't say much about the first episode other than meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. Didn't really care for it. The dialogue wasn't interesting or funny enough to carry the episode.

Episode 1:

Well, that was pretty fun. Not mind-blowingly awesome or anything, and it certainly wasn't nearly as fabulous as I had hoped, but it sure was entertaining for the most part.

I was deceived. That opening credit sequence made this look like an action show. When in reality, it's just Kick-Ass in anime form. Only much less entertaining.

1 and done.

I thought it was pretty cool. I was expecting some action though. I'll keep watching this since i enjoyed it a lot :)

Well this was pretty fun indeed. Guy is a big idealist that tries to do justice, hell this may have some Don Quixote vibe :P Anyway I found the guy to be quite likeable, fun, good-hearted, constant.

Seem I'll have something to watch at for a while :P

And to think this guy is Shark in Zexal? I'm amazed.

episode 1.... am i the only one who thought like 10 minutes in this was going to end in yaoi sex?
it still might for all i know.

i was expecting Superman, possibly Kamina Rider, maybe Japanese Batman, at least Moon Knight. what i got was biting social commentary in spandex.

we'll see where it leads.

I was expecting a cheesy action show and got something that feels like Nana for seinen. Not that they can match Nana in just 13 episodes, but there's just something that seems similar in this first episode. I really wasn't expecting much out of this one, but if they can follow through well, this might end up being one of my favorites this season.

Episode 1:

Well, thats wasn't as stupid as it sounded like, it actually have some tiger & bunny vibes which is always a big plus, sticking with it for now.

Oh dang, I was hoping this was Ultraman .

That said, it was kind of witty.
But first off I want to note some interesting character designs.

It does feel like a Japanese version of Kick Ass without the extreme violence. First ep was kind of slow, though. That could be due to watching Kill la Kill earlier, anything might feel slow after that.
The main difference is that an actual cop is helping him some. I wonder how that will play out. It looks to me like the MC is unlikely to ever attack someone, rather, he jumps out of the shadows to lecture you about your crime, lol. So in that way, it is better than Kick Ass, because that makes what he does more legal, rather than becoming a vigilanty. He is trying to teach people right from wrong. He could end up becoming a bit of a mascot, like Smoky the Bear.

I wonder if getting beat up so much will effect his modeling career?
That was a pretty pimp pad he had there. He also seems to come from a wealthy family, that is not a cheap hobby. He said he had never been in a fight, so he is not experienced. This explains his naivety and idealism.

He IS .... The Human Shamer!
Able to be bludgeoned in a single evening.
More powerful than moonbeams and starlight.

Yes wathing this after Kill La Kill would be a kill joy....

According to one of the first news I read about this, it's going to be 2-cour.
AniChart got it wrong and so did other sites I think.

Still haven't watched the episode, but I'm very curious to see what it's about. Impressions in a bit.

01:

As a pilot it was kind of disappointing. It sets up the characters and what the show could revolve about but it's not particularly funny about it. There's not much meat at all to the dialogue, bar perhaps the last bit when he's talking to the kids: it seemed an overdone, grandiloquent speech with a bit of a solid ground to it and I sort of liked the contrast there (also the fact it didn't magically move the kids except for one). The animation is a minor concern of mine but yeah, it is pretty meh - I guess Manglobe isn't really the ideal studio even for a show that's not meant to be action-y.

It probably all depends on how the show will develop. Charm might be making up for lack of wit (or not) and if it's indeed two-cour there's a lot of social insight they might be planning in putting in which could make for character development and some thought-provoking themes (or, more likely at the moment, it could be an episodic comedy/slice of life around Hazama and Gotoh... meh).

I'll be sad if this turns out underwhelming as a whole. All that's left is wait and see. =/

Three minutes in they make it obvious Gotoh has a girlfriend - precisely so that people will shut up about the two mains being fujoshibait, I'm guessing.
